What a timesaver. Faster speed than the crank and better mixing. I should have purchased the mixer with the tilting ability.

Unit looks nice but overheats in prolonged mixing. I modified the unit with a fan to aide in air circulation and extra vent holes in the top. This improved the overheating situation but it will still thermal out after about 10 minutes of operation in a full hopper of hamburger. A 5-10 off cycle resets the thermal breaker (you cannot do it manually) and it will run again for a shorter period before thermalling out again. The gear box makes variable noises. It sounds as if somethhing bad is about to happen, then it cleans up and runs normally for a period. I will dissect the thing when I get a chance but right now I do not expect a long life from this unit. The motor is very large for its output and a 90 degree gear drive puts power into the output shaft which connects to the paired meat mixer. I have toyed around with changing the mixer height and angle to eliminate angular loads on the output shaft, not much variability there. One other consideration, the motor will run continuously in one direction, in the reverse direction the on-switch is only a momentary contact so you have to hold it to keep it running in reverse to alter the mix to grab some stuff that sticks to the upper wall of the mixer volume. You can push it in with a spatula or other tool, reverse does it and gives you the ability to alter the mix progression, which I feel is valuable. Would be best if you could set the thing to on in either direction. Overall, the system works as advertised but I think the engineering is "good enough to sell it" as opposed to "continuous duty, long life".

Motor is very strong works very well on my 30 lb mixer...set up is easy...
