This is one of the best cat litters out there! Compared to other brands like tidy cat, Boxie stands above the rest. I really like the fact that: this product is sent less, other brands fill the area with what I call stank cat litter chemical smell.. I can't stand it. The absorbency is awesome not only absorb liquids and clumps but you do not have cat odor lingering. Our house guest wouldn't know we had two cats if not for the cats loving on them. This litter has almost no dust when pouring, which is great! Kitty tracking can be an issue with the likes of tidy cat, not with boxie. I also love the anti bacterial version which helps stop the spread of germs.

I've been searching for a replacement for my old standby Arm & Hammer unscented multi-cat scoopable litter, which recently has become unbearably dusty. It seems our entire household is sensitive to dust from cat litter, not surprisingly the cats themselves. My goal was to find hypoallergenic fragrance-free, dust-free clumping litter. We have five cats with eight litter boxes for them to choose from. I scoop the boxes daily and completely change out the litter once a month. Here are six results in order of my preference, the first two coming in at a virtual tie! Notes: My cats use the first three brands relatively equally (Cat’s Pride, Boxiecat, Precious Cat). The first five brands clump well without crumbling, but I can’t vouch for the clumping quality of Fresh Step since our cats didn’t even get a chance to try it. Odor control was not a deciding factor for me in these selections. Cat's Pride Fresh & Light Premium Clumping Fragrance Free 5 stars No fragrance, no dust, just right. Success! Fine texture. Advantage over others: exceptionally light weight, multi-color granules that make even the tiniest clumps of urine or fecal matter easy to detect and remove. The unique warm gray granule color is somehow extra appealing and clean looking to me. Featured on an episode of Must Love Cats. Definitely plan to buy again. (Note: I did not purchase this item on Amazon due to the high price here as of Jan. 2014.) Boxiecat Premium Clumping Clay Cat Litter 5 stars Fragrance free, 99.999% dust free, very easy cleanup. Success! I noticed only a minuscule amount of dust in sunlight when removing clumps, but it wasn’t enough to trigger any allergic reaction. Fine texture. Advantage over others: clumps appear near the surface for relatively easy cleanup. Clumps do not end up stuck to the inside bottom of the litter box as in other clumping litters, which often require scraping and extra cleanup efforts. Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter 4 stars Fragrance free, at least 99.9% dust free as claimed. My cats like it, but my personal preference is the finer texture of both Cat's Pride Fresh&Light and Boxiecat. And unlike the superior Boxiecat, clumps for Precious Cat often get stuck to the inside bottom surface of the litter box, even with the recommended three-inch depth. Still, this is a definite improvement over Arm & Hammer, not enough dust to trigger allergies, and I would consider buying it again if I hadn't already discovered Cat’s Pride and Boxiecat. Purina Tidy Cats Instant Action 3 stars Slight fragrance and zero dust, but only one of my five cats chooses to use it. My oldest cat is the only one who will use Tidy Cats, which works out well since he doesn’t like sharing his litter box. The unique granules are large, smooth and rounded, so perhaps he likes the feel of this litter on his paws. Fortunately it is dust free and the fragrance is mild and pleasant, so I will continue to buy this brand to keep him happy. Ever Clean Extra Strength Cat Litter with Carbon Plus, Unscented 1 star Dusty enough to trigger sneezing when I scoop out the clumps; emits a subtle but sharp fragrance that causes a burning sensation in my nasal passages. The cats don't seem to mind using it, but I don't feel good about them breathing in the dust and the sharp odor and will not be buying it again. Fresh Step Premium Scoopable Unscented Clumping Cat Litter Multiple Cat Strength 0 stars Extremely dusty, strong odor, triggers allergies. Cats didn’t get a chance to try it. This one turned out to be so dusty and emitted such a strong odor throughout the house, we had to remove the opened box from the house immediately. Triggered allergies for both my husband and me – coughing, headaches, burning sensation in eyes and nasal passages, sneezing. Definitely will not buy again.

The litter is great. Far less dust producing than most litter I have tried. The 4 star is that I would prefer card board packaging vs plastic from an environmental stand point. ( the plastic handles do help with manuvering the bag however ). Also I wish Amazon would deliver this in the sellers compact shipping box rather than a larger box that makes it unevenly weighted and harder to handle. I bet the Amazon delivery drivers would like that too.

This stuff has to be sent from the heavens. It’s amazing. My mom is very sensitive to the ammonia in cat pee. I (their main caretaker) am nose blind. I’ve searched far and wide for a litter that really does work as a lifelong cat owner so I can continue living with my mom without sending her into a cat pee induced anger. Pellets, crystals, clay, corn (which is a lie, it clogged my toilet), lightweight, heavy duty, literally nothing was good enough to keep my super sniffer mom from litter complaints. This is it. This is the one. Clumps beautifully, easy to scoop, minimal dust, and doesn’t make my house smell like a litter box, I can go even 3+ days without scooping and it doesn’t smell at all. I even have one box in my bedroom. The 30lb option fills three boxes to about an inch and a half (which my cats are fine with but beware the recommended fill is 3 inches). There’s some talk about price in the reviews, it’s definitely not the cheapest but man is it worth it. If I’m short on litter money I’ll typically cut it with a cheap option (1:2) to make it last a little longer but it still works pretty good. There are SOME downsides. The biggest being tracking. My senior cat brings this stuff everywhere because he’s got arthritis and doesn’t clean himself as frequently. It tracks bad. I find myself sweeping much more frequently and because of the one in my bedroom I have to wash my sheets much more often as well since it gets stuck in between those toe beans. It’s worth it though tbh. Second downside (which isn’t really a downside imo) is the scented option is not scented enough for me to notice. I don’t think there is any scent in it. But it’s the cheapest option so… save a couple bucks, I promise the scent will not hurt your cats nose, it’s not even there. Third downside is as mentioned before, the clumps use a ton of litter but that’s why it works so well so I’m not complaining.

I used to purchase cat litter purchased from the supermarket. It was a clumping litter, but the main complaint was the dust and smell. Whenever cleaning the litter I had a cloud of dust and it was very annoying. Furthermore, the litter was scented and its smell combined with the faeces of the cats was producing a very intense and bad smell. Boxicat, from the other hand, was perfect. The litter does not produce any dust and covers the smells. Highly recommended.

Doesn’t perform better than other brands

Best cat litter ever, I’m hooked on it and can never use anything else again. (I was a little annoyed one time it arrived a bit open but it didn’t feel like much got spilled.)

Low dust and clumping well

This is the best litter I’ve tried. It clumps tightly, which makes scooping easy and keeps the box clean. The gentle scent is fresh without being overwhelming, and it controls odors better than other brands I’ve used. I also appreciate that it’s low-dust and tracks less around the house. My cats adjusted to it right away and seem comfortable using it. It lasts longer than I expected, making it a good value. I’ll keep repurchasing because it consistently keeps the litter box area fresh and easy to maintain.
