The D7 offers a feature set you usually see in tools twice it's cost. If there's one thing I have to praise is how fast the unit scans and response from the moment you auto scan a vehicle to pull live data, the D7 moves quickly. The D7 feels solid, its built to handle regular use in a garage environment. The housing is rugged and it seems well protected against everyday bumps, drops grease, and grime that are part of working on cars. Even with all it's advanced features The D7 remains approachable. The Android base interface is user-friendly. Menus are laid out clearly and things like "Auto Vin" and "Auto Scan" makes step up easy for those less experience, that removes a lot of friction. The touchscreen is responsive and large enough to read graphics codes and diagnostic reports without squinting. The XTOOL D7 is one of the best value-for-money OBD2/ bidirectional diagnostic tool that you can but today. It packs speed durability.Advanced diagnostics, and connectivity into a package that won't bankrupt you. For DIYers and shops alike, It delivers dealership level functionality for a fraction of the cost. If you just want basic code reading, it's overkill- but if you want serious diagnostic it's a stellar pick

Good product, but I don't know if just anyone could use it.

My D7 worked perfectly until it didn't. Something went wrong after an update and none of the usual fixes worked. Frustrated, I simply wasn't eager to spend valuable time chasing the usual poor "customer service" of online sellers. Since I was needing a quick fix, I reverted to using my previous scanner (not from XTool) and struggled on for months. I have since found out that I shouldn't have done that! When I finally decided to contact XTool's customer service, I was very pleasantly surprised! Instead of days-long lags between emails, I was responded to almost immediately and by two different persons, both eager to get my D7 back up and running. Through many back and forth emails, never did I feel abandoned nor out of touch. (While I prefer interacting either by person to person via phone or remotely, my D7 was unable to connect to the internet, and so we were forced to communicate solely through email.) It was as close to "real time" as I have ever experienced via emails. While it still took more days than I had hoped, the final attempted fix solved the issues and, so far, I am able to use my D7 without hesitation. I commend XTOOL highly for their dedication to excellent customer service and their sensitivity to how costly down time is to those of us who use our tools daily. Good job XTOOL! Worked fine the first couple times I used it. Now it won’t connect to my car. If it is in the key on engine off when I plug it in my car won’t even start. So some thing is drastically wrong with the scanner. If I plug it in with the car running it won’t connect. But it does light up my traction control light and trouble light. And a bunch of other things like my air conditioning quit working. So I sent an email a couple days ago, no response. Nice case though. Totally useless!!👎

Device already had 18gb used up and the most current update would take around another 10gb. That leaves about 4gb of rom left with no option of an external memory expansion, you're stuck with having to carefully choose which updates to install. I contacted Xtool and voiced my concern regarding the lack of rom and they sent me instructions on how to "clear up memory". However, those instructions were for a different model. Instead of having to go thru the process of "clearing up memory", I opted to return the device and go with Autel....it has larger rom (64gb) and twice the amount of ram (4bg). And to top it off, the Autel also has the option of an external memory expansion of 64gb should you need additional memory. I'm sure the Xtool can do everything the Autel can do..but the Autel has the edge in hardware.
