Much rather that than my sofa
The base could be a different shape to give more stability while you're little furry friend has his stretch. But overall as you will see in the image it helps to keep your sofa intact from little claws.

i bought 2 of these last month to prevent scratch damage to furniture. They look good, match the furniture well and the cats like it. One downside is that when used as a free standing post (fixings are included if you want to attach it to a wall) it can topple over if scratched at too enthusiastically!
