A parka designed to be worn over the outerwear for the purpose of rendering its wearer inconspicuous against a natural background. This waterproof, moisture-vapor-permeable, conforming to MIL-PRF-32142, Parka is designed for use in cold wet weather conditions and is known as the hard shell. This is a component of the All-Purpose Environmental Clothing System. These items are intended for use by military personal when conditions dictate and as the outer layer of the Extended Cold Weather Clothing System when used during cold weather operations. When properly worn with the other insulating layers of the ECWCS Gen III System protections within the temperatures ranging between +40 and -60 Fahrenheit can be achieved. APECS - All Purpose Environmental Clothing System - this parka was developed to provide Marines with all-purpose/all-season outer shell parka that is lighter in weight, lower bulk, moisture vapor permeable, lower noise generation, and have better water repellancy. This incorporates the woodland Marine pattern from 2004. This Parka has a collar with a draw cord for adjustment and a stowed hood, a water resistant slide fastener front closure, slide fastener underarm openings.
