These work great, take your time with each grit
used these to polish out a granite top after I cut an opening for a huge single basin undermount sink. These work great, take your time with each grit, follow the directions and you will achieve very good results. As far as a tool to run them goes, you need a variable speed grinder which are not cheap. I decided to follow the advice I read in some other reviews and bought a regular old grinder and a cheap variable speed control box such as you would use on a dremel or whatever. Worked out great! I didn't want to work with a lot of water slinging around holding an electric tool so I found that spraying the pad itself and a section of the work down with a spray bottle then buffing worked just fine. As long as the pads are wet, they are happy. In the pic attached to my review note the nice shine on the granite edge above the sink. I did that with a cheap grinder, a variable speed box attached to it and these pads. oh and a little water.

smooth finish with a little patience
I ordered these pads to get my granite top smooth again after using some diamond hand polishing blocks which gouged the top and dulled the shine.I started with the 200 pad and worked up to the 3000 pad using lots of water which got a little messy. I didnt work the disks long enough fearing i would wear down the top in one spot. I later used the buffing disk which was a separate purchase and tried to get the shine back , and it did bring back the shine but not as shinny as the original finish.the gouges did disappear as well as small scratches and created a smooth surface once again, but like i mentioned earlier i didnt work the areas long enough to get the full effect of each pad. I will update when i go through the procedure again at a later date

Polishes to a shine and has polished at least 150" worth of granite sides with no signs of wear.
I cut and installed my own granite counters. Complete novice. These sanders were recommended by a guy on YouTube I found. He explains how to cut, then polish with 50 grit and double the grit up to 3000 grit. He was right on the nose with his recommendations. I was able to polish my cuts to a very nice shine in about 20 minutes. Highly recommend this. All my pads are still in excellent shape after polishing a kitchen sink hole and four 26" cuts for counters. I still have some back splashes to polish. I should be able to get quite a few more cuts polished with these. The guy on YouTube with the best video of using this is Paul Ricalde. Hopefully Amazon allows his video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZBmdR-LtDM

Cost was good for the set
Cost was good for the set. I did find that without a variable speed angle grinder it was tough to keep the velcro pads in place at times, but they did the job. It was also tough to use the pads without a grinder that fed water itself. Again I got by with a hose on mist and a clamp to hold it in place, but folks buying this set to do the work as cheaply as possible like me should know there are some challenges without the right tool!

Discs not too sturdy, but then I ran them too fast
The discs worked fine for a while, but long before the grit wore down, the little squares holding embedded grit broke off the pad. I also had trouble with the Velcro holding the discs. They kept migrating off center, causing vibration. I made the mistake of not checking the RPM rating on my grinder. I ran them too fast. The set worked well enough to cut and polish the bull nose edges on 1/2" granite tile for my kitchen back splash installation. The 3000 grit with a polishing paste brought the granite edge to a matching finish with the glossy tile.

Professional results for a newcomer
I'm new to stone finishing but these pads saved my butt !! I know they can be used dry but the key to doing it quickly without burning the colors of the pads onto the stone is use lots of water and SLOW SPEED ! I found out the hard way but easily recovered. I had to polish some pretty large cracks and these pads came through for me. There seems to be a lot of life in these pads and I believe they will last a long time. Well worth the money.

Didn't work well with my marble
I have used polishing pads before and wanted to eliminate some etching and soap buildup on marble shower tiles. I used all the grits progressively starting from 50 up to the 3000 and was careful to keep the stone wet. I was able to get out the etching from soap etc. but it was not possible to bring the glassy shine back to the marble after hours of work. I know to keep the grinder under about 4000 RPM, keep the pads flat to the stone, keep it wet and yet they still have a dull honed look. This is a very time consuming process, I understand, but the lack of results was pretty frustrating. They were advertised for use on granite, marble and other stone.

Worked very well for me
I used this set to grind and polish the 1-1/2 sqft concrete countertop for my new bathroom sink. These are my first such pads, so I have nothing to compare them to, but they worked fine for me, even running them on a cheapo angle grinder hooked to a dimmer (the grinder runs at 10k rpm, and these are supposed to be run far slower) and GFI and squirting it with the garden hose.I did nearly destroy the 50 grit pad during the grinding of this small piece, so for a lager project I would recommend purchasing extra 50 grit (and maybe 100 too) pads. The finer pads held up fine.Would purchase again.

upgrade to a large size - these are great for small jobs
Works as expected. I would buy again when another project comes up. If you have large surfaces, upgrade to a large size - these are great for small jobs.

Used these pads with my new Makita PW5001C Wet stone polisher, the 50 grit did an amazing job grinding down the rough spots and the remaining pads gave the counter top a glass like finish. Highly recommend this product.
