Steenbergs Organic Onion Powder - 50g

Tried this on a whim and now I have no idea how I ever managed without it! Great for sneaking the flavour past kids that would spot a piece of onion from a mile.A little goes a long way .I had mine a while now and it's still as powdery as the day I open the jar,no clumps .

As with all Steenbergs herbs and spices this is excellent quality and a great flavour. Perfect for someone like me who can't eat onion in food but can tolerate the powder. There are much cheaper options and you don't get a huge amount for your money but it's great for rubs/marinades as it has a fine texture and really strong flavour. I'd say use cheaper versions for dishes like pasta sauce or stew. I've found it dried and clumped in the jar after being open for a month, even with the lid screwed tight, but breaks up easily with the back of a spoon. If you're like me and like a snazzy kitchen counter with useful things closer to hand, the Steenberg jars look really nice!

The first lot I bought on here (a different brand) came in clear bags. It was great but lost it's flavour quite quickly even in a screw top jar. This smelt stronger to begin with and because it is in 3 sealed jars and dated until next year, I am hopeful this will keep far better in the cupboard. I have become a convert to onion powder. It adds Umami to loads of things from casseroles to Chinese dishes and curries. I add a teaspoonfull to a casserole for 2 or 3.

This is the best onion powder I have tried - it is a superfine powder with no granularity at all, has a beautiful onion flavour which is great for adding to recipes and I find it really good for rubs

Steenbergs Organic Onion Powder - 50g is not a product I will be making a repeat purchase for one main reason it does not provide a strong flavour therefore I have had to use a lot more of the powder compared to other brands I have bought in the past. I like the packaging of the product as it is a small glass jar with a tight screw-on fitting lid which makes dispensing the product extremely easy and I can get a precise measurement of the product. If you want a mild flavour this will suit you but personally, I prefer a stronger flavour.

This product is superb. It has a beautiful delicate flavour. By adding more the strength of seasoning can be adjusted to taste. I love to use it in salad dressings. It is so much nicer than any seasoning I have tried from the supermarket and will be buying this from now on.

I have lots of their herbs and spices and they are always delicious. However, the one complaint I would make is that most of the powders set in the jar, a think a better seal should be added to at least the powders. Overall, these are fairly expensive, but the jars are re usable, the size of the jar is great and fits inside my spice rack, being organic is an important part of the reason I buy them, for the health benefits. The depth of flavour from their products, far outweigh the supermarket one.

Great flavour, useful for so many recipes. Unlike so many other onion powders that I have purchased, this one has not hardened or set, which makes out well worth it imo
