Strength and Conditioning for Endurance Running

Best Strength & Conditioning book in my collection for runners
I have several books on Strength and Conditioning but this one is by far the best one - well laid out and easy to read.As well as clear illustrations on the exercises there is also photos of the poor techniques to look out for when doing the exercises and how to correct them. I have only just started using this book but think it gives me the best chance to have long term injury free consistent training that I have been looking for.

Can't praise this highly enough - the best running related book I have read.
I have been interested in S&C for some time but I've found other books to be either too generalist (not specifically aimed at distance runners) or too theoretical (particularly the Strength & Conditioning Bible). This book is brilliant! It's got plenty of the theory but equally balanced with the practical activities. It has completely transformed my pre-run routine, my gym workouts and my whole outlook on S&C. Every time I need to reference something I tend to find the answer in here. Would absolutely recommend this any runner who is looking to commit to S&C and wants to do it the right way.

The first of its kind
I just regret not having coming across this book earlier, as it would have been an invaluable resource whilst I was still at school. Prior to this, my only knowledge came from Galen Rupp's Flotrack YouTube video, and a couple of mini extracts from Steve Magness' book. Proper biomechanics and flexibility are essential, not only for endurance performance and injury prevention, but also for maintaining joint health, muscle tone and coordination throughout life. This book goes into a lot of detail about the exercises, the rationale behind them, and how the adaptations translate to performance improvement. If you are not fortunate enough to have a full support team as they do at St Mary's, I recommend that you get a personal trainer for a few sessions, and get them to perform the detailed assessments to gauge where you are, and to teach you proper technique.

Very informative for a beginner to strength and conditioning
I’ve been running on and off for a while. I’ve just started running again and am getting a lot of calf pain. I’m very weak so have come to realise I need to gain strength. I can’t afford a coach/physio and am not an athlete, I just run for health. Although very comprehensive this book also provides good basic information for beginners. I love understanding the reasoning behind different exercises.

A must have in your library!
Terrific compendium of exercises and more importantly, a guide on how to think about strength and conditioning. This was recommended to me by a friend/former teammate of Charlie Grice (elite middle distance athlete). Read the book cover to cover. Do not skip ahead to grab exercises randomly. The strength of this book is getting you to systematically assess your weaknesses and develop a training program that supports your running. You will miss this aspect by skipping to the exercises. If you are a coach or an athlete, this book is a goldmine.

Schwacher erster Verusch

Veramente OK
Molto interessante e ben fatto. Ricco di foto e spiegazioni, affronta tutti gli aspetti della programmazione e delle esercitazioni per l'allenamento della forza e non solo per i praticanti del mezzofondo e fondo.Indicato soprattutto per i tecnici di tutti i livelli
