Ronseal Ultimate Protection Decking Oil 5L - Natural Cedar

Great value for money, I can get two coats and everything just looks great. I treat twice a year so buying in this volume is essential.

Works like a charm and cleans up really easily. Ignore the top critical review that person should have totally cleaned his decking of the previous oil based treatment in order for this one to work well.... as with all thinks preparation is key to a successful job. How well does this decking oil perform? I live in the wettest part of Argyll and it has never let me down in all the years I have been using it. Last treatment lasted 5+ years.

I've used Ronseal oil on decking for years. Its not cheap, but the price isn't a concern if you've invested a lot of money on wood! Looks great, and am pleased it's available for delivery from the seller.However, when the delivery arrived I was quite concerned about the state of the can. You can see in the photo that it has been quite badly crushed and warped in transit. Thankfully there is none leaking and it should be used up soon. So a star off for that.

After purchasing three smaller tins from a local DIY store, I needed some more to finish coating a 7.3m x 4.2m (24'x14') deck. The value was brilliant compared to the smaller tins, if only I had seen this product first I would have saved +£20

always struggled to choose between ronseal and cuprinol as similar price point and item description. Part coated a rough wooden shed floor in Cuprinol Total decking oil Natural Cedar but ran out due to higher than expected absorption of product into the rough wood. Unfortunately couldnt get any more cuprinol anywhere in this colour so thought id finish in ronseal as its a shed floor and I just want it protected and dont really care about colour match. Ronseal is slightly paler and has a more oily texture when applying vs cuprinol which is very watery. Ronseal gave a more oily finish than cuprinol which I think looks slightly better. time will tell on duration but I expect both to be similar.

Contrary to the claim that it "Does exactly what it says on the tin" it does not. The wording claims that a 5 litre tin will be enough for two coats on 20 square meters of ridged decking. I managed to cover our 23 square meter decking with a single coat. And only just. That makes this product twice as expensive as you are led to belief.

Great product, does what it says, easy to apply and looks good when finished.
