Not bad at all. These strips are used in exactly the same fashion as ones you would use in an aquarium. You dip them in the pond for a few seconds, withdraw, leave for a minute and then compare the readings, the colour segments, against the comparable readings on the side of the container to get an indicator of water condition. It's quite accurate, not as accurate as water testing kits and if you're unlucky some of the sections can become contaminated by run off from other segments but it's quick and easy and gives a good indicator at least.
