Great all-rounder - smooth on road but superb grip
Excellent tyres - we use them on a three-person tandem, had them now almost exactly a year and done a fair few school runs along muddy lanes. They're excellent on tarmac as the centre rib is smooth so there's no hint of rumble, but the moment you lean into a corner the side lugs dig in.We haven't been off-road much but little forays into the ditch to let cars past reveal that the grip is excellent, there's been no rear wheel spinning on slippery uphill bits where the previous tyres tended to slip. They also seem to shed mud really well. The previous pair of tyres was trashed in a year (can't remember what they were) yet these are barely showing the first signs of wear, e.g. the surface texture on the side lugs hasn't worn smooth yet. We've not had any punctures yet whereas in the same period there have been some fifteen punctures in solo bikes in the household, hard to say if that's due to puncture-proofness or luck. For a short while I tried a pair of Schwalbe Marathon (can't remember which sort), these seem to roll faster - subjective of course, I've no way of measuring it - AND grip a lot better AND are a lot cheaper. Shurely shomething wrong shomewhere!Thoroughly recommended.

Good all round tyre
I was looking for a tyre which would be comfortable to ride on the road, but has sufficent grip to cope with unsurfaced cycle paths, and wasnt subject to punctures. I had been using tyres with a knobbly edge and a smooth middle, but these were very punture prone after the last puncture decided to replace even although they still had life in them.Had my first medium length ride today, 25 miles, about half on the road, and half on part of the eastern end of the transpennine trail from Hornsea, which is mainly cinder/unsurfaced with muddy patches. First impressions were favourable, comfortable on road and sure footed on the muddy patches. Also coped well with the potholes and poorly maintained side roads in Hull.I will need to see how good punture resistance is but looking at the tyres I am certain they will be better than the tyres I replaced. Overall seems like good value for money

Great Tyres But took a bit of getting used to
I've had these on my bike for a few weeks now. My commute to work involves some road and off road riding.Having always had knobbly tyres I wanted semi slicks to make road riding a little smoother and less sticky. These tyres have mad a huge difference to the road cycling, they roll easier and are whisper quiet and have made road use a bit less energy sapping.I went for these in particular as I wanted the kevlar lining to help prevent punctures and I;m pleased to say I've had none at all since I started using them. The other reason for selecting them was because they had the knobbly outer edges to make them suitable for off road use also.I have to say though that off road they do not perform as well as a full blown mountain bike tyre. I have found them less grippy which is only to be expected I suppose but I do now find that on some tight corners I need to slow more than I would have done and take the bends in a wider arc to prevent the front wheel sliding out.I mainly cycle on common land near my home, the paths are a combination of gravel, stones and (at the moment due to the heatwave) dusty hardened dirt tracks.I've not come off but I have had to change my riding style to suit the capabilities of the tyres off road.I've pumped them right up to the 60psi max they can handle and they provide a comfy ride. I'm no nutter on a bike anymore (mind is willing but body can't keep up as I get older (mid forties)) so would not describe my riding style/ability as aggressive/over the top adventurous)I think the more adventurous mountain bikers may not find these tyres to be very good but for someone who cycles for pleasure on/off road without going crazy these are perfect and will make a huge difference on the roads for sure.If you are a "turbo nutter" who likes to go mad off road you might be better off sticking to a proper mountain bike tyre.

A great tyre for road and off-road use
A great tyre for road and off-road use! I have put it on my E-bike and it is totally silent when used on-road and appears to have minimal friction. I haven't yet tried it off-road but the build suggests it will give good traction. Hopefully the Kevlar guard will help to prevent punctures (I have had none yet!). A good value tyre. If you are only going to use your bike on the road then go for the road cruiser version with Kevlar protection. Also very good value!

Excellent results
These may not be 'slicks' - or even semi slick really - but when you yank off the standard nasty tyres that come with sub £300 bikes and replace them with these, the difference is nothing short of transformational!A completely different level of quality, and the ride is smooth but assured. Tread pattern makes the bike much more smooth-running and therefore faster on roads and paths, but plenty of grip if you veer off road a bit! They feel sturdy, safe - and are particularly quiet actually too. A really great purchase and highly recommended.

A big quality problem
I've got a pair of Schwalbe slicks, and they're great, so when I decided to put something more universal on, Schwalbe was quite attractive. So, out of the box - look nice, although more aggressive than on the CGI picture: the centre section is noticeably more prominent. Well, anyway. I put them on, pumped up with a hand pump (about 20 PSI by experience), and kept messing with the bike when a loud POP happened. Wow. Even the bike was vibrating after it.What the... Well, OK. It was a VERY old tube with a million patches - it could've popped for no reason. So I got a brand new spare out, pumped up, and in a little while - BAM, the same thing again. The same blow-out holes (not punctures), in the same place... I looked at the tire and found a 3-inch split in the side wall, through the Kevlar guard and everything. So I think what happened was that the tubes just went through it like a hernia, and popped.I'm hoping it's just a defective tire - the other one seems OK, but I'm sending them both back and will probably opt for another Schwalbe's semi-slick. Shame, really.

Toller Allrounder
Es musste also dringend ein neuer Reifen her.

Good hybrid tire
Having tried numerous "hybrid" tires over the years, this is the first one I've been happy with. The solid center stripe is wide enough for fast/quiet pavement travel if properly inflated. Google "tiredrop"; no need for max rated pressure for a smooth, efficient ride.As the smooth section is pretty narrow, corners are much more predictable than a tire with knobs only at the edges, they tend to suddenly wash out as you try to corner sharply. While these don't corner like a slick, there isn't the sudden surprise as you lean into a corner that many other hybrid style tires have. The tread is quit a bit more aggressive than it appears in the picture, they do well in moderate mud and loose conditions. The 26x2.0 are still pretty narrow at pavement/dirt pressure and need aired down a bit for sandy areas.

Better than what I had
Considering the image, I expected to find this tire to appear much less like the standard knobby on the bike. However, it does produce the results as advertised. The center is just wide enough to give a smooth ride on a road surface. As long as you don't tend to lean a good amount. As for off road, I don't see why it wouldn't work as well as my old tire. I haven't been able to do an actual trail ride yet, but It seemed just fine for what little I was able to try.
