Brilliant, lightweight substitution for bigger bulky tape measures.

The negative reviews miss the point. No, this measure does not have a hooked 'lip', but then it's not meant to! These measures automatically extend OUTWARDS, rather than retract INWARDS. There is no spring, so nothing to go wrong. Just press the button and the measure extends. If you then have a problem with retracing it, you really do have more than this little measure presents!I bought the 2 metre measure version, which has the convenience of both metric and imperial markings. I think the 3 metre version might only be marked in metric markings.It's a pleasure to use.

The tape is very good, the mechanism is very effective, but the belt attachment falls off.

I brought both the 2m and 3m versions of this tape. This lighter 2m version will eject 30" horizontally after pressing the lever and you sort of pump the level whilst pushing the tape to get it back in. It doesn't have an end tag to hook over the edge of anything which limits it use. Came with a plastic belt loop clip but it usually lives on my desk. I brought this as I was fed up of needing to measure paper etc. longer than a standard 12" ruler and for the novelty of it flicking out quickly.

Kicking myself for not paying closer attention to the fine print. Or reading the reviews.Like others have said. This is the metric and imperial tape. NOT AS THE PICTURE SHOWS THE DIFFERENT ALL METRIC MODEL.It took a week to arrive, it will take 5-7 days for the company to process the refund. So by the time the refund clears and I order the all metric version it will have taken three weeks. Unimpressed with myself and the lazy seller not updating their listing properly, despite this happening to other people before me. And that's if I can stomach ordering from this company again.The fact the tape lays flat is it's big selling point. And would have made it excellent for layout work. Though depending on your job the 3M version would be better. The tapes comes with a clip, it's more a belt clip with a hook that lets the tape easily clip on and off.
