Delicious coffee, good strength, easy clean, really happy
Don't normally write review, but I deliberated over this for a long time and previous reviews really helped me, so it's only fair I add my bit for future deliberators :o)The coffee machine is really easy to use and clean. Most importantly, it makes lovely coffee and you can adjust the strength easily by letting it grind full period (strong) or stopping the grinding earlier (weaker). There is a tiny bit of fine powder left at the bottom of the cup after drinking, which means just don't drink the very last sip, which is no hardship. The machine hasn't got a big footprint, a bonus in my little kitchen.I prefer this fresh bean grinder over pods which will always be more expensive to buy. You have the choice of nice beans to taste and can always add flavours (or the odd drop of alcohol) yourself if you so wish.I can heartily recommend this little machine!

Budget, efficient, good quality.
Really pleased with this item! For a bean to cup that's at the budget end of the market this is surprisingly good. Fits neatly in with my other machines, versatile in that it grinds extremely well but also can use pre ground coffee. No mess with removable and easy clean filter pod and it makes a very good coffee!

Just why?
Cuisinart generally makes excellent coffee makers, particularly filter coffee machines. They used to produce a popular one-cup filter machine that made great coffee but was difficult to clean. It’s clear they’ve tried to develop a model that handles single cups and is easier to clean, which they’ve achieved. However, this newer version unfortunately produces poor, inconsistent coffee with varying temperatures. I imagine that in a country where K-cups (Keurig) are available, this machine might perform more consistently, but that’s not the case here in England. The one I had would intermittently fail to work, and it was difficult to get the right balance of coffee volume, despite it theoretically grinding the perfect amount. It’s a nightmare dressed as a daydream.

Very good but not perfect
I bought this Cuisinart coffee maker after using its predecessor the DGB1U for many years and then finally giving up trying to keep it going with homemade spares. The pros of the new machine are that it’s quicker, easier to use and clean, it’s smaller and looks very nice. The 1 con I have found so far which results in 4 star review is that I cannot change the strength of the brew because you load the bean hopper and it grinds enough each time to fill the Barista filter whereas the old machine you loaded as much beans as you wanted for your chosen strength coffee into the grind cup. This means the same amount of coffee grinds are used each time, so same strength of brew. I suppose I could put just a few beans in the hopper rather than fill it if I wanted a lower strength of brew but no way of getting a stronger brew than the standard one on offer . However, that option would remove the benefit of the ease of use by having the bean hopper full and not having to load every time. Overall, very good machine for the single cup option.

Makes Great Coffee!
Delighted with this machine. It is ideal if you want a simple, but perfect bean-to-cup coffee. I noted other reviewers commented on inconsistent results, and coffee strengths; this is not something that I have experienced. The grind always seems to be very consistent - although it definitely benefits from tapping down on the work surface to settle the ground coffee. Of course, results will be directly impacted by the quality of beans purchased; I always buy a quality bean - I mean, why spend money on a quality coffee maker only to put cheap beans through it!So far, all positives. Any negatives? The only one is grinding the beans, which can be a little bit messy, with grounds ending up on the drip tray/ work surface. But that is a tiny niggle - and in some way you might even argue the ‘mess’ makes it feel closer to the coffee shop experience!I’d like to find a small enough tamper just to press the ground beans down a little in the filter; so, if you know of something then please let me know?

Nice coffee but messy
I bought this to replace a stove top coffee maker and separate grinder. I found that solution messy, although consistent. I thought this all in one grinder and one cup filter system would be a tidier way to make coffee for one. How wrong was I..When grinding the beans into the reusuable filter, it also sprays my kitchen surface with coffee grinds. I end up wiping down the surface multiple times per day. I cannot believe this is the intention. I’m using it exactly as instructed (you can’t really get it wrong because the filter slots on to a specific place) but the ground coffee coming out of the grinder has a short distance to fall before reaching the filter and is obviously hitting the top edges of the filter and some gets redirected. It’s not a closed system between grinder and filter. The coffee it makes is pretty consistent and hot (which not all machines achieve) but it’s very messy. I can see myself replacing it at some point. It’s pretty annoying. The unit is smart and not too large and looks pretty durable. Easy to set up and use but the messy nature of it is an issue.

Superb
Fantastic bit of machinery, does exactly what it says on the tin, coffee grinder is a little bit noisy but it's ok, easy to use, and the best bit, for any coffee lovers in a truck or campervan, using a modified or quasi sine wave inverter, this works perfectly, unlike almost every other coffee machine out there. The only downside, I wish I could find disposable paper filters for it, as it's a pain to clean out when living in a truck without running water. I'm sure someone will make some soon tho.
