vLinker FS OBD2 USB Adapter for for-Scan HS/MS-CAN Auto Switch

I bought this dongle to make a simple programming change on one of my vehicles, something a garage quoted hundreds of pounds to do. The dongle worked flawlessly with ForScan. After downloading the software, it’s important to follow the setup instructions that come with the dongle, particularly setting the correct communication parameters — this is an easy step to miss but essential for it to work. Once configured, connecting to the vehicle was straightforward and it unlocked access to a wide range of settings and features that can be adjusted depending on your vehicle. ForScan itself is free to use, and there’s also an extended licence available at no cost for two months, which gives access to additional functions — more than enough time for most one-off changes. I’d strongly recommend checking YouTube guides for any specific changes you plan to make, as there’s plenty of helpful walkthroughs and it’s worth understanding what each setting does before altering anything. Overall, a great value tool if you’re comfortable following instructions and want to avoid unnecessary garage costs.

Plug and play installation (although the USB COM drivers may have been on my system already). Faster than the interface it replaces.

Worked perfectly to diagnose fault with Ford Focus 2012 hatchback with1L Ecoboost engine. This is one of the recommended cables for forscan software which is what I used. Please make sure you read the instructions in the pack and install the correct drivers before use to avoid issues / errors. Once setup, helped me identify which ABS / Speed sensor was not working correctly. Sensor replaced and car back to normal. Great product.

I bought this as I wanted to try to force a DPF regen on my 2019 ford focus 1.6 TDCI. I chose this after looking at the FORscan software and was pleased that it worked perfectly. Instructions were clear and I was able to connect to the car and force the DPF regen. It took a while, which was a good excuse to give the car a wash. Much cheaper than taking back to garage to do for me.

With this dongle and a computer with windows you have an awesome diagnostic which does the job of diagnostic tool ten times the cost of this. Still early days but my car has a fault with the wheel speed sensor not only does it have the fault code but you can pull up each wheel speed sensor signal and graph them against each other. Move the car and visually view the signal coming from each sensor giving you more detailed information. Is it working, just a poor signal etc.. So happy so far with this. You do need a laptop and a windows operating system however.
