The design for this necktie is derived from one of a series of 12 monthly covers that Frank Lloyd Wright was requested to do for the Liberty magazine in 1927. For this cover titled Saguaro Forms and Cactus Flowers Wright used a formal grid as a matrix for rectangles and circles to suggest the columns and blooms of a saguaro cactus. The original presentation drawing has since been adapted to various purposes including an art glass mural for the Arizona Biltmore. Here it is rendered in beautiful silk.
