Love this speaker. I bolt it to my kayak with the 1/4-20 thread on bottom. I don’t worry about it getting wet. Tough too. Took it to a ski mountain where we brought it to a spot halfway down the mountain to party. Dropped the thing a few times. Still works great. If I want to skip a song, I don’t have to bring my phone out of my pocket, just use the buttons on the speaker. Even bought one for my dad. I have 3 speakers from ion and they all work great and sound awesome. There are a bunch of people at my work that have ion’s too (mostly the 50 watt speakers).Only thing I would recommend to the manufacturer is to design a grille to protect the metal grille over the speakers as I can see it getting dented at some point.

I'm a music lover, so I've been searching for a good quality and loud portable speaker for a while now. I had roommates in college who used this speaker a lot and I remember liking it quite a bit, so I decided that I'd buy one for myself. Anyway, I'll get to actually reviewing.- PRICE Honestly, I wish I did my research before I decided to order this from Amazon. It's A LOT cheaper at other retailers, but I've also read a lot of iffy things in the reviews about units apparently being very defective (mine is perfectly fine). I don't regret spending almost $200, and it was worth the money for me. However, of course I'd take a much lower price over a considerably higher one.- PERFORMANCE I'm MOSTLY okay with it. The bluetooth sound quality sadly isn't as good as the quality you get via having an AUX cord plugged in, even with all the equalizer presets. With that being said, I'm really sad that the equalizer presets don't work for AUX because the sound quality is so much better. Bluetooth barely competes, so I strictly listen via AUX unless I just want to chill while listening to lower music. The FM radio is surprisingly loud and sounds pretty good (better than bluetooth with a good, stable signal), but I don't listen to it enough to give a conclusive opinion. Overall, it's a stellar bluetooth speaker that offers great loudness and "full" music with a clean, fair amount of bass. It's more like a mini car speaker than a bluetooth speaker lol.- BATTERYThis is what disappoints me the most about this speaker. After consistently using this speaker ever since I bought it, I can safely say the battery only lasts for a very lacking 2 to 4 hours. The battery just isn't that good. The top review says the battery lasts for around 12 - 15 hours, but that's just not true unless mine has a defective battery. I did read other reviews that also mentioned their battery only lasts for around the same time as mine does, though. What's worse is that I can't even listen to music while it charges because it seems to die faster than it can charge, but I have never used the charger it came with. That could be the reason as to why, but the packaged charger is sooo short and doesn't come with a wall piece. I'll try using it while listening to see if it makes a difference.Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to a friend or family member if they want a really good quality bluetooth (AUX) speaker that's fairly loud. As I mentioned before, it's more like a mini portable car speaker than a simple bluetooth speaker. However, I'd also warn them about the less than stellar battery life it offers. This would easily be a five star for me if the battery life was better. Definitely order this from a different retailer if you can, but it's definitely not a bad deal if you have excess money to spend.

Holy Cow! I thought the ion plunge sounded great, but the max @ 40 watts sounds better.I own 3 other ion Bluetooth products and haven't had a problem with any of them, they all sound great, one of them being the plunge(20 watt version).Those 3 were purchased at warehouse clubs, one of which did carry the plunge max, but it wasn't untill I saw them side by side at a Nat'l electronics store that I realized how much bigger the plunge max was over the plunge, I had thought the only difference was the max has the FM tuner.I can't say why others are having issues, seems like anything you buy people either love it or hate it, just saying I love the ion products I have.

This item started out well. Turned it off to head home. Tried turning it back on, wouldn't do so. Thought battery was dead after a little less than 3 hours at mid to low volume. Tried charging. It wouldn't charge at all. Lots of bad reviews, they all hold true... And so I repeat, DON'T BUY THIS GARBAGE.

I use this in my garage along with the SiriusXM iPhone app. Sounds more like a high quality new car stereo than a portable radio. No artificial booming base, just good clean sound from low to high frequencies. Battery charge seems to last forever, or at least 12-15 hours.

Nice speaker that's easy to use and connects to bluetooth and has radio stations as well. It's nice for the beach or doing yard work, brewing beer in the garage ;-) or just about anywhere. The sound is pretty good. I wouldn't say it blows you away but nice quality for the price you pay. I'd recommend.

I'm not able to update my original review written prior to contacting the seller. The product was missing the charger and the charging access case is damaged. I was able to locate a charger in my home that is compatible and this product works GREAT!! Sound is awesome and battery life is long. The seller responded very promptly and offered a full refund if I wanted or 50% refund if I wanted to keep the speaker. I opted to keep the speaker because I was very pleased with the sound quality and battery life.

Not loud enough for where I work and the battery only last 4 hours or so.

love the tone of the speaker. Didn't like that the plug that covers the charger broke after a few weeks.

We love using this out on our deck. It amplified sound great and is loud enough to use by our busy street.

Not suited at all for outdoor use. If you’re more than 10 feet away, you can barely hear it. Waste of $125. Save your money and buy something else.
