This system seems to work well for my guitars
I was skeptical about whether the Boveda humidifier system would actually work given all the choices out there for keeping musical instruments in a properly humidified environment....49% Rh, give or take 5%. I purchased one #70 sized packet and one of the Boveda fabric cases, which I thought was a bit pricey at $9.99. The plastic packet containing the liquid gel material sits in the fabric holder in the guitar case, which needs to be closed tight. After day 1 there was no change on the hygrometer in the case with the Boveda system, as was the result for another guitar/case without the Boveda system. Both were showing around 43% humidity. Days 2 and 3 showed the same results for both cases, hmmmm. On day 4 there was about a 2% difference between the two cases, with the "Boveda" case showing the higher humidity level. After a week the "Boveda" case got up to 48% Rh while the other case hovered around 43-44% Rh...not bad for an unhumidified (?) case. I live in SE Pennsylvania so there is a wide difference in humidity from winter to summer. This test was done in December when outside temps were between 25-40 degrees F and indoor humidity was about 36%. In extremely cold or hot humid environments I believe more humidipacks would be necessary per case to maintain 45-55% Rh. However, it seems to me that the Boveda system does work given a few days to adjust within the instrument case, and with the lid properly closed.

Easy way to maintain humidity
I have been using these packets to maintain humidity for my wooden instruments for over 8 years now. They are the easiest and cleanest way to keep the humidity level up especially in our harsh Buffalo winters where our humidity indoors can be below 20%. Unlike other methods there is never a worry for the development of mold or mildew. They are also good at keeping humidity down in the summer however I do not find them to be as efficient doing so. When measured with several humidity gauges I find the packets to be within 10% of the numbers on the packets. Interesting note, the instructions state to discard when they become dry, however I have rejuvinated all of my dried packets by placing them in ziploc freezer bags with a drenched sponge. Over a day or so they will soften back up and work as well as when I first bought them.

Decent system for dry guitars
Full disclosure: I keep my Taylor acoustic in a hard shell case in a room next to our church auditorium which has a baptistry constantly full of water. So you would think my struggle would be that my guitar is too wet, but not so. My guitar is constantly between 20-30%. I’ve tried numerous types of methods (save buying an expensive cabinet humidifier), and Boveda is fairly reliable. I use the word “fairly” because despite the advertised 49%, I’ve only ever gotten the humidity to 40%. As a test, I’ve placed my guitar in a small room with a humidifier right in front, getting the hygrometer to read 45%, then immediately placed the guitar inside the case with the Boveda system - and sure enough, it still went down to 40%. Overall, the system works fine on keeping my guitar to the lowest acceptable percentage, but I wish it were effective.

Great For the Health of my Guitar
I had neglected a humidifier for years, until my guitars needed repairs. Now, I have found these and I am taking proper care of my guitars. The stay in tune and sound great like with the proper humidity levels. I feel better now, and keep my guitars in their cases, each with one of these Boveda 49% Humidity Control Packs. I'm on the every 3 month subscription as well.

It definitely works.
A guitar technician turned me onto this product and I don’t regret it. This is a perfect way to keep my expensive guitars at the right humidity level. I bought the little cloth bag to suspend it over and around my strings and into the sound box. Works great.

Not maintaining 49% inside my case
I purchased these for my vintage Martin acoustic. First, I calibrated my hygrometer, which is an expensive Bluetooth model, which I can monitor them inside my case when I’m away. Next I put desiccant packs in my case with the guitar inside to bring the humidity down as close as I could to 49%. I was able to achieve 52% and then I installed three of the packs inside the Guitar and closed the case. Not long after I closed the case the humidity began to slowly creep up from 52% to 55 then 56%. It appears that these things release humidity more than they absorb it, at least in my experience. For the price I expected these things to lower my humidity to very close to 49% relatively quickly but that’s not what I’m seeing so I’m probably gonna end up returning them.
