Q: What is the actual descaling chemical? And what is the dye that starts red and turns yellow? They should be on the product description.

I searched around and found this:- consists of 5-15% Sulfamic acid and 5% citric acid. Only lactic or citric acid recommended for Delonghi coffee machines. As a bean to cup machine ftrom Delonghi costs a gazillion quid, I would rather stick with the recommended chemicals.

Q: Can this be used in a dishwasher and washing machine?

I use it to descale everything but guess you should ask the seller.

Q: What’s the shelf life

Don't know what the official stated shelf life is (cant be bothered to go to my garage and read the label!), but I have had a 5Ltr tub for three years and when I used some last week it was just as strong and effective as when we first bought it 3 years ago. Hope that helps.
