Good image but the wifi is a waste of time
Good image but the wifi is a waste of time, kept getting drop outs when only 4m from router. Now connected through a wired connection to a wifi rate extender and working perfect.

Great picture but some limitations
I already owned a Foscam pan and Tilt camera and decided to add a second as they are great value. The first thing you notice when setting it up is that the web page does not show the live images like my previous model. The image when you do get it (in my case on my iPhone) is much crisper than my previous model. The other significant issue is that the power cable for this model like all other Foscam's is too short if you are wanting to put it on the wall or even the ceiling. I purchased the Foscam extension cable from Amazon only to find it was not the right one, beware if considering this, I'm sure there is another one but I've not been able to find it yet.If you can find the cable or don't need it at all then the image on this model is well worth the cash. I personally will be buying the pan and tilt model next time.

Utterly Frustrated by non integrated camera support, please read review.
Bought this with high expectations, expecting a professional service from a previously reliable company.Instead I get sent a camera with the DDNS address not registered by Foscam, rendering the camera virtually useless, after the usual four hour telephone support calls I ended up with a camera linked into my own ip address, obviously useless as a remote monitoring device, and have had some seriously dubious tinkering done to my router settings by their 'help team' using Team Viewer. (I have had major issues before, the companies own website is badly translated, the instructions with the camera are laughably bad) The annoying...no, frustrating...thing is the cameras when they work are excellent, but they make a huge selling point of the 'free unlimited IT support.... then are unable to provide any staff based join the UK, and who are utterly unfamiliar with BT hubs despite they're being the biggest IT company here. The staff do try to help, but the language barrier is unsurmountable and you have to ultimately trust a stranger with access to your computer. Who then... mucks up so many settings its untrue... and leaves you with useless bits of kit. Please sort this out Foscam, if there is an issue with using both HD and Standard definition cameras on the same app...provided by you... say so.If you sell cameras, ensure their addresses are logged into your own servers before dispatch. If they are sold as wireless, ensure your staff know how to set up port forwarding on the software provided in the UK by the telecom companies.Lastly... your cameras are good, seriously good, but your company is being terribly let down by the web/call based help available, and I'm on the verge of moving away from you entirely to a cheaper alternative, POE cameras are simple, yet you badly let down clients here too.

Wifi is not great with regular disconnects(screenshot attached)
Bought 2 of these, upgraded to latest firmware. Wifi is not great with regular disconnects(screenshot attached). I doubt it's my router as i'm using an ASUS RT AC68U and the cameras are no more than 6m away through one partition wall and i have no disconnects with any of my other devices some of which are further away through a concrete wall. As for picture quality set at the highest settings on 720p its grainy, i expected a crisper picture, maybe the firmware or software is not optimised as i have played with the settings on both.

will buy another one
Excellent camera, no issues so far, considering buying another one soon.

Good, but let down by the smartphone app
1080p makes a any product sound like the image will be perfect but resolution does not mean perfect image quality, so I'd rate the image/video quality 'very good' but not 'excellent'. More importantly though, all Foscam cameras are let down by the poor iPhone app so please bear that in mind.

Good performance but poor mount and cable design
Picture quality and performance seems decent enough. I am not using wifi but over ethernet cable performance is good. A little tricky to position as the mount tended to fall apart while trying to screw it to the wall. My biggest complaint is that the cable coming out of the camera is ridiculously short (40cm) before it branches out into 3 chunky connectors which means you will need a connecting box close to where this is mounted. Also the power lead isn't long enough to reach the floor if the camera is mounted above head height or on the ceiling. Why couldn't foscam provide a hidden connector concealed by the mount and an 8 foot long power cable to reach to the floor from a ceiling / high wall mounting position?

is a good buy for the price
Standard foscam camera, so has the usual somewhat sucky firmware. However, is a good buy for the price. The picture is very clear for 720p, and if you update the firmware when you get it then FTP uploads or foscam's cloud service work well. Can use WiFi to cover more awkward-to-wire locations. No SD card, so no local storage.I mounted it outside under an eave to cover my front door and deck. It is an indoor camera, but protected I think the build of it will be fine. Photo attached to show it at a 2M bitrate, 720p, early morning when the IR is shut off.Note: the camera has four pieces. The top mount part, middle part (says foscam on it,) third part, and finally the camera itself. Middle part "twists" into the top mount part a few degrees to lock into place, and the third part can be adjusted to open up in whichever direction. Then you just align the camera as needed. Hard to explain over text, but if you buy the camera you'll understand once you take a look at it. Wire sticks out a length and slits into ethernet, a button, and power as per usual.UPDATE September 2018: Still running strong. I bought a second one and hooked it up outside back in the Spring, and it also works great. I recently hardwired them both without any fuss. I think for the price point they are one of the best options for getting something recording in a slightly protected location outside. A bit of snow and rain hasn't hampered them for me.

A simple and elegant security solution.
Use, Setup and Software:This camera is easy to use and set-up as long as you use the included CD-ROM to initiate the set-up. Just like all of Foscam's IP security cameras, after the camera is set up, it uses Foscam's software and/or mobile app to monitor the feed. You can tell that Foscam has taken time in making quality software to manage all your camera's in one place. With this specific model you are also able to turn the IR to Auto, on or off, depending on your lighting situation and adjust resolution/frame-rate. Foscam also gives you a Free (technically $0.01) trial of their cloud based recording software, which I have found extremely simple to navigate. After the free trial it's only $5/mo, which is an affordable cost.Material Quality:Even though this camera is titled "Indoor Dome" you can tell that Foscam used materials for those of us that wanted to put outside as well. They designed it with a nice sturdy plastic, and the entire camera base can easily be assembled for cleaning. I want to add that I do not recommend mounting this camera in an open outdoor environment, it is not weatherproof, hence why it is advertised "Indoor Dome." We decided to use it on our front porch so it wouldn't get wet or damaged and we haven't had any problems.Camera Quality:This camera records at 720p and it is pretty clear! They offer other models that can record at a higher resolution, but for the price, you can't beat the quality. You also have the option, in the app and software, to change the resolution and frame-rate for recording. The camera can be manually adjusted in the mount to get you that perfect viewing angle.Complaints:The only complaint I have is regarding the set-up. The instructions to set-up the camera clearly state that you can set-up the product with the use of your smartphone and their intuitive app. That is not the case with this camera. You have to first set-up the camera using the disc provided and a computer on the network. Not a big deal at all, and it is still extremely easy to set-up, but I spent 45 mins trying to set up the camera with the App alone, before I figured it out. The other Foscam cameras I have worked fine with the app for set-up, but for some reason this specific model did not. Conclusion:When it comes to simplicity and appeal, the Foscam FI9851P is a great contender. It doesn't offer as many features as it's other models, but it gets the job done respectively. With this camera not having those features, it does support a nice slim design keeping it out of sight (my wife didn't even notice that I installed it). Overall, I am very satisfied with this camera.

Merci.
