Most mountain bikers now accept that a good front mudguard makes sense to reduce the amount of mud or spray flying up off the front tyre and into your eyes, glasses or goggles. Not only is it much safer, it's also more comfortable (think, hurtling down a fire road at 30mph and being pebble dashed in the face by lovely welsh grit and mud) and means you can ride faster more safely.

Compact, Solid, Looks great, May contact with fat tyres and low fork brace...
Edit: I stand by my review below for my setup, however there is a note here - I changed to Continental X-King Tyres on my 27.5" wheels and basically had a clearance issue with the Mudhugger. With my slimmer, standard tyres the Shorty was a good fit with a slim clearance and good contouring over the tyre. However with the X-Kings it is now actually unusable for me as the tyres make contact with the guard, and for me the tyres are more important than the guard. Does this change my review then? Well, the quality, shape and the fit are great so long as you don't have fatter X-King tyres and a low fork bridge/brace like on my Rock Shox 120mm. If you do, this could well rule this one out for you. I also noticed that the shape and contour of your forks brace will effect the contour of your mudhugger, something to bear in mind when gauging the clearance for yourself before you buy. That said, read on for a review...Old setup, before fat tyres....Things you need to know about this shorty front mudhugger: 1. It's got a cool stealthy look. As the name suggests it hugs the wheel profile, sitting close to the wheel it looks like it was meant to be there all along. 2 Fits really well with the included zip-ties and the "sideburns" of the mudhugger seem to suggest they will offer good protection of my forks/seals 3. Does a great job of keeping watery mud out of your face! I fitted it this evening and found some puddle-strewn tracks to prove it. The clearance to me suggests that more clingy thick/caked mud could build up under there and need some clearing but in my opinion if your going through that stuff most guards will clog anyway. 4. Better than some of the thinner flexible plastic guards I've seen. Some of those have thin plastic and may not offer you the solidity or reach around the wheel and protection of a longer and more rigid guard like the Mudhugger. 5. You can buy purpose made stickers for these too! Search on here and you will find a variety of pretty cool stickers. 6 The price is now cheaper, I believe I paid about £17. And lastly, I ordered these during a sleepless night last night at around 4am. That afternoon they arrived! Honestly, I would recommend this item, it's sturdy, a good price, doesn't make your ride look lame and saves your boat-race from mudwater and grit. Very happy with this purchase but check your clearance first! Your mileage may vary!

Good hugger
Fits very close to tyre on my bike but works perfect. On gravel tracks it shoots stones out of the front tyre 👍

Works well
Very sleek. I was worried that it would get clogged up as it is such a low profile and there is very little tyre clearance (27.5/2”35). I was out in very very muddy weather yesterday and while it got a bit clogged it cleared quickly once on a fire road.

It fits a Carrera Vengeance
Fitted my sons Carrera Vengeance well once adjusted by choosing which pre drilled holes to use for the cable ties. At this price point I'm disappointed the orange sticker shown in the photo wasnt included as this would have matched the frame colour of the bike and some spare ties for adjustment wouldn't go amiss either

Great mudguard
Fast delivery, light, good quality, easy to fit and fits perfectly.

Great, but minimal clearance.
Great mudguard, it looks really tidy & it does the job for water spray etc but I found it just sat too close to the tyre on my 29er Stumpy Evo and any real mud trawling immediately clogged up the wheel & i'd often find myself adjusting it to stop it buzzing whenever it took a knock or got nudged.

Great mud guard
Very good, but 4 stars because of the price. Fits perfectly to 26" MTB tyre. Too bad that my MTB was stolen, so didn't use this guard too long :(.

Fits like a glove
Quality product does what it says on the tin. Easy to fit on my 27.5 wheel. Only point I'd say is it could come with decals .
