Great Desk Chair Mat
I put this mat in a small area where I have a computer/accessories wood work station. There are walls at the back and both sides. I have base board at the bottom of the walls. This mate measures 471/4 X 53 inches (at least mine did).I laid the mat on carpet and it was approx.1/8 inch from either side wall and touching the back wall. I then installed a wood molding on the mat at the bottom of the baseboard on the three walls. The mat will not move. It looks very nice and seems to be extremely sturdy. I cannot attest to durability since I have not had it down very long.I am approx. 210-215 lbs and that (with the chair) leaves an indentation in the mat but doesn't last. The mat is not very thick but has the "spikes" on the back to hold in the carpet.I would like to comment on the mat when received. It was in a box rolled up as some other reviewers have stated. And as others have said it will try to go back to it's FLAT condition when the securing wrapping is released/cut. It would be best to have someone help at this point but if you are like me-don't want to ask anyone for help unless absolutely necessary. If the wrapping is cut and there is nothing else holding it in the coiled condition it WILL open up with a LOT of force and could possibly cause harm. This is what I did: Took a rope and made a small loop in one end and placed the other end through that loop making a lasso. Before the mat wrapping is cut any-place the rope around the mat approx. in the middle. Look to see how the mat will open when the wrapping is cut. Tie the other end to some stationary hold down point. I did this in the yard (didn't have room in the garage). Then start slowly cutting the plastic binding from one side with one hand and hold the rope in the other hand. As you cut the binding the mat roll will start to open-give it a little slack by pulling the rope towards you an carefully relaxing to let it slowly open. It may jerk but if you have it tied down it cannot open fully. Then start cutting the wrapping from the other side from where you started and cut toward the middle. It will only open so far then you can pull the rope toward you and relax for slack until it is fully opened. I left it in the sun and it will take a while to get back in a complete flat condition but not long. Hope this helps others out there. This is a very good item and I highly recommend it.

Absolute junk, do not trust the 5 star reviews. Not a valid rating for regular use.
I waited before I wrote a review as these types of products only show their issues over a long period of time. A positive review for a chair mat that somebody just purchased is not realistic of a product that sees heavy use and only has issues after its actually used as intended over a period of time. These mats are cheap regardless of what any positive reviews say. They are no different than any other polycarbonate mats you can buy on Amazon. All are too thin and they crack under the pressure of the wheels and just do not last. The cracks make them completely unusable and unsafe as the cracks leave sharp edges and sharp points all over the mat. I have these on low pile office carpet and it just did not matter. I have 4 of these throughout my home, one for each of my families desks. All started cracking within 3-4 months of owning them.My wife and I both work from home full time so we are at our desks and on these mats 7-8 hours every day. Typical hours by office standards. In a normal office setting, quality mats last several years, sometimes much longer. These do not compare to those what so ever. My home office is exactly the same as any normal business office, using the exact same rugged office carpeting.Pile height makes a huge difference on how quickly they develop cracks. One of my mats is on 1/2" plush carpet. It is by far the most cracked and is the least used mat of the 4 I own. The mat absolutely divots under the chair wheels. Claims that this mat is rated for heavy use and on carpeted surfaces up to 1/2 thick are absolutely invalid. I use a couple chairs that have the standard plastic type office chair wheels as well as a couple that have the larger soft rubber, scooter style wheels. It makes no difference to the time the mat will last. The mats do not stay put. The spikes in the back are insufficient and too short for any thickness carpet. My daily use mat slides around on average 10-12" every day requiring frequent readjustment throughout the day.. That's on low profile office carpeting. On the thicker carpeting, your chasing the mats around the room all day.If you use your desk and mat frequently if not daily, save your hard earned money and put them towards a better product such as tempered glass, something that will last for years, not months. You will absolutely be replacing this product sooner than later, so spend the money now and you will have less frustrations and years of use from a product that just works well from the beginning.
