Review: Fun and Engaging First Dictionary for Little Learners - The Oxford First Picture Dictionary is an excellent start for little learners! My 3-year-old has been picking it up in his own time, looking at the pictures, and learning new words every day. It’s simple, colorful, and engaging — a perfect way to build vocabulary at an early age. I’ve noticed how quickly he connects the pictures with words, and it’s making reading fun for him. Highly recommend for parents who want to encourage early reading and vocabulary growth. (Sharing a video along with this to show how much my little one enjoys it!) Review: Excellent beginners' vocabulary list. - This is an excellent book for an immigrant family to have in the house as it contains clear colourful pictures of objects and animals in English. Young children love it as a picture book but even an adult coming new to written English would find it useful for learnig simple vocabulary and spelling. Every inner-city library should have a copy.

Excellent First Dictionary.
Excellent First Dictionary. Clear layout. Amusing drawings to go with easy explanations of words. Extra pages at the back give examples of numerical exercises, days of the wee, month so of the years, the seasons, comparisons and some nice point and learn words. Very good value for money.

Very well produced.
An excellent dictionary with very attractive drawings by Val Biro - unlike those terrible cartoon drawings seemingly produced by robots. Although aimed at young English children, it's excellent for teaching English, as I do, to immigrants.

Ok but not great
Good presentation, nice illustrations to hold my kid's attention for a while since she was still a baby. I like the additional pages with different themes like playground, fairy tales characters, opposite words, etc. However I wish I had chosen another picture dictionary featuring people instead of animals doing daily activities. For example with the word "button" we see a monkey wearing a coat, with the word "wash" we see a frog washing face. My toddler can only identify the monkey and frog, it took her a while to understand that the monkey is fastening the buttons and the frog is washing face. Why not just show a monkey for the word "monkey", show a frog for the word "frog", show a person fastening the buttons, washing, running, playing football... instead? She can quickly name all the animals she sees and doesn't immediately understand that the picture is actually indicating something else such as, a skirt, a crying baby, a teacher, etc. The animal pictures should be for the animals only.

grandma
I purchased for my granddaughter who is 2. everyone agreed it looked just the job for her. We needed a book for her as her older sister has a similar book purchased for her mother!! (some years ago). Older sister loves her book.

I bought this item for my young daughter who is into books and reading. Nice and colourful but it cannot be used by the child on her own since some pictures do not explicitly refer to the word. M.L.
