The rich rancher Vincent Bronson has the say in the town of Sabbath. When he and his drunken cowboys ion Bannack accidentally shoot an old man, of course, everyone knows that this was an accident - everyone except Bannack's Marshall, Jered Maddox. An incorruptible advocate of law and law, he is shot to bring the killers to court. Maddox pursues them all the way to Sabbath and makes it clear there that he will arrest the men or shoot any of them who resist. When he rejects a lazy deal with Bronson, his men want to let the rifles talk. But Jered Maddox is not a man who can be so easily put off. He wants to bring the killers to Bannack - dead or alive!
