To my surprise, it cames with 2bags of expanded clay pebbles, but these are less dense and floats on water, as contrast to Hydroton brand. Each bag can fill 1 pot fully. I believe the intent is this pebbles are meant to be placed as the base under the soil to promote wicking and draining.The material is really good polypropylene (i think) and is decently thick at 0.086" (2.2mm) for the outside and 0.06" (1.5mm) on the the liner. If it is polypropylene, ussually this plastic is good chemical and uv resistance which are perfect for my needs.Interior: 5.5x4.5" (140x110mm) 106.91 cu in or 1.8qt(1.75l) Exterior: 6.75x7.5". Water reservoir holds about 4.5 cups (1.065L) if you want the water level to touch the bottom of the inner vessel. It also has lifting tabs to easily lift the inner vessel. It comes with a foot of quarter inch (5mm) thick of synthetic wick for each pot (seems like soft nylon) which doesnt rot like cotton. I also like how the inner liner is fenestrated which would assist the roots in breathing. I will be using these things without soil (think hydroponics or plant nerds call it semi-hydro) and i will probably remove the wick when the roots can touch the water.Well cons on this is the plastic can allow light inside (worst on the transparent version) that can let algae grow, but for me this is a small trade off being able to see the root development. Theres also no water level indicator, but i can easily diy one with a straw glued to a pingpong ball. There is no over-flow drain hole which is not good if used outdoors because the plant can drown from rain. Although you can drill a hole on the side if you really need to use this outdoors.Overall im very pleased to find these size pot with a huge reservoir and especially with a very good value. Theyre cheap but dont look that cheap, heck it could pass of as a Lechuza.

The media could not be loaded.  I like that these flower pots are clear and large but if you have limited shelf space they are pretty bulky in size due to the shape.

My wife was given a spider plant that has multiplied. These pots are perfect for hanging the now several spider plants that hang in front of several of our windows. The watering from below makes it easier to deal with pests as it doesn't attract as many insects as watering from above. Just check the soil before adding more water as you can over water plants in this sort of planter.

These pots work well for water wicking. You can put the cotton string up through the soil and it waters the plant well. I only gave it 1 less star because I don’t love that it is plastic; it would look a lot nicer if it were ceramic or something else. But I recommend if you want a plastic pot!

This is my first ever product review. I love these Planterhoma self watering pots. The price was fantastic & I loved that they came with white pebbles to place on top of soil. I chose the metallic ash gold color which I had no idea how awesome it was going to be. The other choices looked pretty as well. I was not expecting top quality pot for the price but was pleasantly surprised. They are not flimsy but a very nice quality & the insert is lovely especially since the pebbles match the color of the insert. They were well packaged with plastic between each pot to prevent damage. Great bargain & I African Violets look amazing in the pot. Watering is a pleasure. Definitely purchase this item.

I like to use square, clear pots for my anthuriums inside clear plastic or glass cache pots with a LECA reservoir. I had some 7" square pots and was looking EVERYWHERE for clear cache pots that would fit them. These are perfect! I haven't tried the inner basket that comes with them yet, but I agree with the other reviews that it's a bit small given the size of the outer pot--there's a lot of wasted space. That said, it is a GREAT deal per pot, cheaper than any other option this size I could find, and the included LECA makes it even better.

While these do look very nice once I replanted various indoor plants, I personally think the basket (where the plant and soil are) could have been larger, and therefore more dirt could be used. This system is best suited for a plant that drinks alot, such as a Peace Lilly. In other words, the outside container is very large compared to the basket that fits neatly inside. Unfortunately, my plants will out grow these in 6 months. I plan on removing the basket, putting a few holes in the bottom of the outside container for drainage and using something underneath to catch excess water and replanting all my plants. I do like the color. It seems to be well made.

These will work great with my orchids and African violets
