Another sleeper gem from the RovyVon brand - the A28, still good as 1st generation
At the time of this writing, the 2nd generation of the A28 has already come out. I was tempted to get it, but it's rather expensive at $57 USD. Then, I spotted a terrific deal on the 1st generation A28--nearly 50% off! The G2 is a welcomed improvement over the G1. It has a larger battery (now 850 mAh, versus 600 mAh), two control buttons, a new UI that's easier to remember, a whole new clip with magnetic feature, and a Nichia LED option. But is that worth nearly double the cost of the G1? I decided for now, I would get the G1 and see if I get on with the format of this flashlight. The A28 is a great flashlight in many regards. If price doesn't matter to you, I'd suggest the G2, as the new UI brings some welcome relief to the age-old double-click to turn on. That double-click is a workable avoidance of accidental activation, but most lights don't do this. The G2 eliminates that. Single click turns on. And if you want to prevent accidental activations, you can do an e-lockout of the flashlight. ALSO, the G2 provides a nice moonlight mode from the front emitter. That's missing from the G1, relying upon the side white emitters for dim lighting. Both of these lights have a removable head. The threads of the polycarbonate body are very tight and smooth. There's no risk of leakage, as there's also an o-ring in place. This is meant for removing the battery and replacing it, if need be. RovyVon has an excellent track record with batteries, so this is a very seldom need. In fact, my 4 year old A8y is still working great. Holds a charge quite well. Being able to extract the electronics w/battery, you can also apply some GITD tape if you wish. I did this, because I found the GITD to be a big disappointment. Unlike the A5 that has the whole polycarbonate body embedded with GITD, the A28 body doesn't have it. Instead, RovyVon opted to make the plastic frame for the mcpcb+battery as GITD. So you can barely see it... and unfortunately, it also doesn't last very long. One could really take some GITD paint and apply it to the inner wall of the clip side of the tube, which would be even more effective than GITD tape. The A28 has two emitter options: A 6500k CREE and a 4000K Nichia. The Cree is seriously bright. But there is green in it. I put some minus green filter over the front to test, and it does a great job of clearing out that green cast with just a minor notice of lumens drop. I learned that the optic is a single piece TIR--no separate glass in front of it. So, you can't slip any filter behind the front glass. It has to go on top. I'm going to install a minus-green filter to warm up the beam a bit. I think this is a better way to go than the lower powered and less efficient Nichia (although a 519A Nichia is nicely efficient and would be most welcomed). If I could ask for some improvements, it would be the following: 1) The mode memory is set by leaving the light on for 3 continuous minutes. That brightness level is memorized. But if you're like me who prefers to use a light like this on low mode most of the time, it's an annoyance after that exception of using it on high for 3+ minutes. The UI should allow for a memory reset, that starts it back to moonlight, or low. 2) It would be nice to have a battery level indication. The standard set of flashes for one's and tenth's would be great. A simple command could cause the side white LED to flash accordingly. No hardware changes necessary. 3) It would be great to have a tritium slot somewhere on the body... perhaps inside the loop arch or cut out of the base. One could do it inside the body, so that the tritium is very nicely protected, shining through the polycarbonate. 4) The white LED's have low and high... but it would be nice to have a beacon. A light like this could be very useful with that. You could use it as a marker when in a dark area. The UI would be very easy to adjust. A single click in the group goes from low to high, then another would be beacon. Overall, I'm happy with this A28. It's a fun flashlight. It's too bad the new G2 clip isn't compatible with the G1, but at least the G1 clip is very sturdy. One could always affix a magnet to it, or a lanyard.

ROVYVON LITTLE CHAMP🔥
AMAZING! This lightweight and extremely durable flashlight is worth every dollar! From its amazing battery life for its size, CRAZY brightness, to its very nice button feedback, quality, and operation…BUY IT! The product also comes with a 2-Year warranty (3 if you purchase with the Amazon Prime Visa Credit Card). It’s IPX8 rated and is the perfect size/weight for an EDC flashlight. Highly versatile as it comes with the option of a VERY high quality magnetic clip that has a super satisfying click feedback when opened or a ring option. Charged her up really quickly when I first unboxed and only took 5 minutes so they definitely come pre charged😎. Trust me, you will not regret buying this!💪🏽

An amazing little light
I have had Rovyvon lights for years, with the quality and longevity being way above par for lights. As an investigator, Ineed lights that will always function when needed and the Rovyvon lights have never let me down. The Aurora A3 has been my key-chain go-to lights for many years and when I saw this A28 it seemed just the light for everyday use. It sure is. I purchased the model with the white and red side lights and am amazed at the brightness of the two embedded LED's. Pin head size and yet the brightness is outstanding. Once you get used to the switch usage it is relatively intuitive. One press and hold turns the turbo mode on as long as the button is held. Double click from off and you get the multiple modes of light, starting with high then each successive click brings high, medium and low in succession. Three rapid clicks brings on the red side light and then you click through flashing, strobe or steady. Four rapid clicks brings the white sidelight on low and the next click sets the low lumen side light. You will not be disappointed with this light. I trust Rovyvon quality and durability every day and always feel confident they will perform well.

Remember the Noisy Cricket from Men In Black? Well this torch is a bit like that, it packs a bigger punch than you might expect. The only downside is trying to figure out how the buttons work, it's fine, but it Takes time to get to grips with. Rovyvon torches are literally brilliant.

This RoyVon A28 is by far the best all-in-one EDC torch or flashlight of all the ones that I own and have seen. I've never seen such a very well built product in a small form factor and carries out super multi functions of lights all-in-one. The highest brightness of the flashlight is really super bright! RoyVon has really upped the level of EDC flashlights. The build quality is super great and tough! It can withstand anything and it will not break. I am totally super satisfied! The price is reasonable for such great product and quality. Thank you seller and courier for even delivering it at 2:30 am in the morning to keep your promise! Great service and I recommend this to anyone, as for me I'd stop looking anymore for other EDC torches as this one A28 RoyVon covers everything I need and want.
