Good quality charger
I purchased this charger primarily to de-clutter - over the years I've accumulated dozens of USB chargers and wanted to get rid of them.I chose this type (power cord) rather than the type which plugs directly into the socket because I wanted it to be accessible from my desk. The unit itself seems well made from good quality plastics, none of the shiny creaky stuff you get on cheaper products. I know weight isn't always an indicator of quality, but this does have a reassuring solidity to it.I tested it with a power meter when nothing is plugged into it (the green led is always on) and however much it was using was less than the lowest my meter could register - so less than 0.1W. It certainly doesn't get warm at all when idle so I'm pretty happy to leave it powered up.In use the RavPower seems very good. Charging at full capacity the unit warms up a little, but much less than many other USB chargers I've used and certainly never enough to cause concern.Although it's not designed primarily as a travel charger I think it would work well as one - because the power cord is a standard 'figure of eight ', if travelling to the continent you can just swap the UK lead for a European one and there's no need to take additional chargers / plug adapters.I've only had it a month so I can't attest to it's long term durability, but it certainly achieved my initial aim of being able to dispense with (nearly) all my collection of cheap chargers.Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase.--UPDATE-- I've had this charger for nearly 3 years now and it sill performs flawlessly. If you found this review helpful please click the button below.

Top candidate in Value for Money Vs Quality
It's amazing to think how quickly USB charging is taking over our conventional electrical needs. Not too long ago the only USB chargeable device in the household was a mobile phone - and then it feels like we just blinked and suddenly we are on our third desktop charging hub! This 4-port charging hub is our 1st by RAVPower. Our previous 2 charging hubs have been Anker - 5 port PowerPort hubs.Like the the Anker hub, the RAVPower features intelligent charging capabilities. It can charge 4 devices simultaneously (upto 8amp / 40w max) and features a small green LED light for the sole purpose of letting you know that it's connected to the mains.Unlike the Anker charging hub which has a glossy finish Anker USB Charger PowerPort 5 (40W 5-Port USB Charging Hub) Multi-Port Wall Charger for iPhone X / 8 / 8 Plus / 6s / 6 / 6 Plus / 5 / 5s, iPad Air 2 / mini 3, Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge and More , the casing on the RAVPower is a matt (lightly textured) finish and has a rubber inlay on it's underside to prevent it from slipping. The measurements are as described : 91mm (L) x 59mm (W) x 29mm (H) and comes with a standard UK 3-pin plug.As a further comparison, both models are neat and compact in size, but despite having only 4 ports versus the 5 ports on the Anker, the RAVPower is still actually a few mm's larger. However, if you don't need 5 USB ports, then you'll at least be saving £6 with this RAVPower hub. Conclusion: Build quality and reliability from RAVPower is top notch and at the current price of £13.99, makes this a recommended - value for money, charging hub!Personally, although slightly more expensive, I still prefer the design of the Anker charger (and you get an extra usb port)!

RAVPower... No, no. It's RAWPower!!!
USB Charger RAVPower 40W 4-Port Desktop Charger Mains Charger with iSmart Technology for iPhone 6S iPad, Samsung Galaxy and Android Smartphones -Black Lately, I have been charging my Nvidia Shield more and more... No, not because of battery damage or degradation, I have been playing more Android and emulation games in my spare time and watching the odd film now and then; when I get that free moment of peace. When i venture to my tablet, it is occasionally as flat a piece of bread under a steam roller; because I have forgotten to charge it up, or the plug socket was stolen by the hair dryer, or it got pulled out for something else. " /I was getting really tired of having one plug for each of my tablets and phones and having to charge them up all the time and doing the plug song and dance "You the put the one plug in and the you take the other plug out and shake it all about, then your plug gets stolen and you all start to shout!.", why can't they all just hang together and charge all at once... HmmmAfter pondering and watching some Tech reviewer's on Youtube, I started my search for a multi USB charger. Not an insane 15+ USB dock that can charge up my house while it is at it, I bet those things could charge up a Nuclear power station. I wanted something simple, small price mark, small, compact and friendly to my devices. I came across this little beaut! Perfect for my needs and it has four USB Smart ports and a lot of reviews to help me get a level head around this product. I ordered it with the Prime delivery and it came the next day; PERFECT.I got unwrapping my boxed item and it came in a nice sleek little box (the box is also perfect for packing it away when not in use, but, I recycled mine) You get the USB Ismart charger and a plug. Plug it in and away you go! I managed to charge my Ipad, Nvidia K1, Nvidia portable and a Dingu (small handheld gaming emulator) with no problems whatsoever. What more could you ask for, simple and easy to use and charges my devices much faster!Thank you for reading and if you made it to the end... well, you are awesome! ;)
