Great idea extremly poor execution for this model set
See below my general review of the Brikmax series. Specific issues with this set:1. The lights are super bright, instead of the soft glow shown in the pics. It is a bright harsh light.2. Too many wires - every light in use has a wire that has to be routed in the set or under the bricks. Because of the number of wires the bricks don't sit well and the set is not stable.3. The lights are just LEDs on a PCB stuck on the wall with double sided foam tape. Considering the amount of thought that went into the design of the original model set I actually think in this instance the lights reduce the value/cool factor/view-ability of the model.Pros: the lights are great. They are bright and add to the whole "feel" of the model. Lego should have included lights from the get go.Cons: The execution for the lights is at best mediocre to okay. The lights are just LEDs on PCBs with long thin wires. This causes a number of problems:1. The lights many times don't fit (i.e. forcing a LED to go into a colored round one unit plastic piece), or are just stuck on visibly with double sided foam tape.2. There is no real good way to route the wires. Most of the time you have to stick them under existing bricks and sometimes with multiple wires the thickness is too much to get the bricks to sit back down securely.3. Although a battery holder is included it is a one size fits all deal. It is not customized per set so that it can be incorporated into the set so its hidden.4. Expensive for what you getThese "cons" exists because doing it right would have been probably more expensive. How could they do it right?1. Instead of wires they could have used bricks that incorporate the wiring into them for power (Lego already has these. Not sure if they could buy and resell from Lego or they would need to make their own "compatible" molds)2. Lights shouldn't just be LEDs on a PCB, they should be again incorporated into a brick so they fit properly and look nicer.3. If wires HAVE to be used then maybe provide specialty bricks that allow better routing/hiding of wires.4. The power source could be customized to the set (at least use a color that is found in the set) to make it easier to hide/incorporate.Over all if you can get them on sale and cheap enough and no one is looking too closely these are great but a seamless upgrade they are not.
