Does this come with a pen? I have never purchased one of these and my five year old is trying to explain one to me.
Can you open websites like YouTube on it ?
Do all Innotab games work on this version?
Is this rechargable, like a proper tablet or do I need to buy an additional battery pack?

!! Avoid if you use BT Broadband !!
PLEASE NOTE: There are issues with this product and the filmware if you (Like Us) use BT for your broadband and have a BT supplied router. I had to get a micro SD card sent to me by VTech's technical Dept. as their technical teams initially emailed download didn't work. All in all the issue took a week to sort out. (Not good)The Product:Fantastic piece of kit, even for my two year old who has stopped asking for her Mum's iPhone and now carries this where ever she may be exploring. The tablet is packed full of feature rich apps for her to explore with the minimum of fuss (She's only 2 after all!)The battery life is roughly 16 hours and needs a daily charge, however that is with 16 hours of being switched on and left on. The camera is just a gimmick really and is rubbish at taking pictures of any quality, the videos are equally poor but like I said, it's only a gimmick. Parental controls are easy to set up and input.

Not sure how it works as not yet opened
Looks good but taking to Dubai as a present for my grandson. This was given to my grandson as his Christmas present. Sadly it does not work. The memory card that fits at the back of the tablet is missing. Sam is only 4years old & was very disappointed that he could not use it. We also bought the pink one for our granddaughter which has the memory card & works perfectly. I have emailed Customer Service yesterday to report the missing g memory card.

works okay but very difficult to add non Innotab content
nice toy, daughter likes it. But you have to be careful which cartridges you buy - they all seem to say "compatible with all versions" but they aren't compatible with the Innotab Max.Also you can apparently add music & videos etc to the Max from your PC via Learning Lodge software... the VTech Learning Lodge webpage doesnt have connection software for the Max version of the Innotab?!Currently trying to use version 3 of the software (which is a different product) just to see if this works. It is not simple to do anything but download games from within the Innotab Max itself or buy the exact cartridge for this device.

Good little device
I've only just set this up and had a quick look but works fine and in great condition for a refurbished one, looks pleanty to do on it and extra cartridges can be bought for it, great price and great communication from the seller, fast delivery.

Buying an InnoTab Max has turned out to be one of the worst purchases we've ever made and a huge waste of money. In addition to the attached pictures, the attached video also demonstrates a number of the issues I have mentioned. We bought an InnoTab Max back in December 2014 as a Christmas present and despite some of the initial teething problems (the device was just new on the market at the time) our daughter loved using it, especially the Kid Connect feature. Then VTech got hacked back in November 2015 and both Learning Lodge and Kid Connect were suspended indefinitely. This made the device pretty much useless. Learning Lodge has only recently come back online but Kid Connect is still not working. Not to mention that a number of the features in the parental controls simply do not work even on the newest version of the firmware that was installed at the beginning of August 2016 (UK firmware version #31).Trying to update the Parent Account details also does nothing when you fill out the form on the device and press the "Save" button. It just remains on the same screen without doing anything. Trying to go into the Profile Manager loads the profile management screen which then just disappears again. This prevents the ability to add or change any profiles. It is the same with the "Sign Up for Kid Connect" option under the Parent Account screen. A screen briefly flashes up and then immediately disappears again rendering the feature useless. Applications that are run under a child’s profile also randomly crash with an "Application Stopped" message.Trying to check for a new firmware version continually returns a "Oops! Error occurred. Please try again later." message (thanks for the really descriptive error message VTech!). Well, I've been trying for weeks and just keep getting that exact same error message every time so something is obviously broken. Other Wi-Fi connected features work fine so there is clearly a problem with either the software on the device or communication with the VTech servers. There are instructions on their website for how to download the latest firmware file and install it via a memory card but the link to the firmware file is broken and it just returns a file not found message! Doing a network test using the Network Helper returns a successful status showing that everything is OK but clearly something isn't. Even though the network test says the firmware on the tablet is the latest version who really knows what to believe anymore with all the issues this device has.Why has it taken a global company almost a year so far to fix Kid Connect and why is this device still riddled with so many software issues nearly two years after the product was launched? It makes you wonder what sort of tin pot software development arm VTech are actually running.I have done a hard reset of the device to no avail. I could of course try doing a factory reset of the device but with no guarantee that this will fix all the issues being experienced, and with VTech not having provided the ability to backup and restore any of the content that my daughter has created over the last 18 months, it would mean that everything she has done would be completely lost. Data backup/restore is a fundamental feature of any modern device these days so why on earth the VTech software development team decided it wasn't needed is beyond me. I'm certainly not going to hold my breath though because the amount of time it is taking VTech to sort out their web server security issues means that this device will likely be a museum piece before they get round to providing any type of useful backup and restore feature.Putting aside that fact that amateur security on the VTech servers allowed hackers to obtain the personal details of millions of children which is totally unforgivable and inexcusable, the stability/reliability of the software on the device is an absolute shambles and the device and service as a whole is a complete and utter disappointment. Not really surprising if VTech are using the same calibre of developers to write the software for the InnoTab Max as they used to write the original security layer for their web servers. In hindsight we should have just bought a normal cheapish Android tablet instead which would have been heaps better than this piece of junk. I will never buy a technology product made by VTech ever again.Instead of making excuses and offering half-hearted apologies, VTech should be offering proper compensation to the many customers who bought these devices in good faith. And I don't just mean one or two of the overpriced games in the Learning Lodge which is all they seem to have offered to some customers as some kind of lip service. They should at the very least be offering to reimburse the full amount paid for the device along with any games that were purchased for the device.

Good screen, poor camera, enjoyed by my 3 year old so thumbs up.
The original VTech Innotab Max that was delivered by Amazon continually froze and only seemed to manage to work for 2-5 minutes which obviously as a device for a child could result in a lot of frustration.Luckily Amazon's excellent customer service replaced the device and the new device seems to be working perfectly. If you are used to a tablet like an iPad you will find this device is a little slow at starting, changing applications and generally doing anything... but if you can cope with a few seconds delay it seems pretty good. Our 3 year old boy has already got to grips with the basic functionality and knows where to find his games, we bought the Peppa Pig game which so far he is really enjoying. The camera is dire and almost not worth having, considering how good cameras can be on phones these days, this is a real let down, I was looking forward to my son being able to learn how to take photos, but I don't think he will be very impressed and is likely not to bother using it.I particularly like the settings that allow you to restrict the amount of time a child is allowed to use the device, but I would prefer for a young child that the majority of the menu items were removed so that the child has a chance to learn one area and then when a parent feels their child is ready for the next thing, add the menu items back. All in all, it's definitely got potential and I will be interested to see how much use it gets over the next few months.
