Q: Does the plug going into the wall swivel?

The plug part that is colored black or dark gray is hinged to the white part, it acts like a hinge the way a door hinge moves, it moves 180 degrees up or down.

Q: Is there a *non-polarized* version of this available? japan and some other countries don't use polarized plugs and this would not work there.

If you will be in Japan, go to any electronics or large home goods store and you will find the non-polarized version of this. I know, I bought two while there, and they work great for my non-polarized travel electronics anywhere I go.

Q: How flat can this thing get in inches?

When put flat against the wall, it’s about one inch.

Any thts? Doesn’t fit. The prongs do not fit my plugs and my cords do not fit the adapter, though it appears they should (1 wider, 1 narrower).
