Q: does it work with all imac

THIS IS A WORK AROUND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LOST THEIR INTERNAL SUPERDRIVE! EVEN IF YOU HAVE MAVERICK'STRUST ME, IT WORKS! Mine has worked fine with my 17" MacBook Pro since this SuperDrive came out in 2012! It is now 2014! I SEE NO REASON AT ALL WHY IT WILL NOT WORK ON AN iMAC with an Intel processor!I wrote a review about this! So, I will repeat it again:Go to "Applications" and click "Terminal"Copy and paste the following line of code into Terminal pop up window: sudo nvram boot-args="mbasd=1"Close all Apps if you like.Restart your computer.Plug in the USB Superdrive OR unplug it and plug it back in. THIS THING IS AS QUIET AS A MOUSE! SERIOUSLY!Go to iTunes blank CD-R in hand choose a play list to burn.NOTE: You might need to choose which Superdrive to use if you have one already. I did not have one in my 17" MBP. I took it out and replaced it with an Optibay that includes another OWC 480GB SSD. Yes, I have TWO OWC 480GB SSD's in my 17" MBP. THIS THING FLIES!I was using a different burner but I wanted the look of the new Apple USB Superdrive. It told me the other one I was using is not available. "Would you like to use..." THE NEW ONE! Q: I wanted to watch blu-ray dvd's on my iPad. Looks like that's not possible with the Superdrive. Anybody know if/how that can be done?

ME Technologies sells a USB Super-BluDrive for $79, which includes software that can play Blu-ray movies. There are also two softwares. One is Aurora Software's Blu-ray Player for $30 android the other is Macgo's Mac Blu-ray Player for $60. Mac Blu-ray is due for a 3.0 update. Both are pretty much the same. Check out their reviews online.

Note to MacBook Pro users - this drive will only work with MacBook Pros that originally came with no internal SuperDrive - if your MacBook Pro originally came with a SuperDrive and it's died and you're hoping to replace it it with USB version, be forewarned that it will not work...the computer will not recognize the drive. In your case, the reason you can't insert the CD all the way is the drive is not receiving power from the computer...try unplugging the drive from the USB port and you'll see the CD does the same thing when you try to stick it into the drive.
