STANLEY 5002 Series 3 Pieces Chisel Set 0-16-128

Great price and good quality chisels, only needed the 25mm but was cheaper buying the set of three.

I must say I have never used wood chisel in my life but I am very confident DIY person with lots of experience. I needed this to put a new bolt 🔩 lock on couple of internal doors. I am impressed with the quality of these chisels as they did a great job. They are very sharp and comes in 3 different sizes to enable me to chisel out the wood precisely without any struggle. They feel durable and are great value for money. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I purchased these as I had 6 doors to fit and needed to get some chisels to dig out the recesses for the hinges and door catch. They started off really well although by the 6th door they were (all at least the ones I was using) started to dull and required sharpening. They sharpened fine though and they do feel nice and sturdy and have a good solid feel to them. I am very happy with them and they certainly made fitting the doors much easier.

A reasonably good chisel set for the price. They stayed sharp after a range of DIY jobs and my opinion is they are good for the price and good for a diyer but a tradesman would probably want to buy a better quality set. I had them for 14 months before I did this review because I like to use tools for a while to give realistic feedback. The only negative is they surface rusted over after one year and I have not found that with previous UK made quality chisels.. For that reason I think they are possibly made in China?. See pics. However I think diyers need to assess the cost of a tool versus how often they will use it before deciding whether to spend money on a top quality product or more average lower priced product. They are not great but ok for DIY use. I made some covers for mine but they still rusted inside the covers.
