Sorry for the delay in answering your question. Hoping that I will be still helpful note how to remove the battery. The back of the thermometer can be flipped open by using a small knife that must be inserted horizontally in the opening between the body and the battery part at the top (in the rounded part) and twist it slowly. There are two plastic clips inside the rounded part that keep the cover in place.

Q: When you say used when and how and what was it used for ?

It is a contact-based thermometer. We used it under armpit as the default location, but it can be used for in-mouth and rectal measurements with the notion that the criterion for fever temperature is slightly different at each spot and the comparison table is included in the user manual.

Q: Anyone worked out how turn beeps on/off? My beeps are off amd now I cant get them back on

I bought mine last year and it didn't bleep either. It still took a temperature ok so I carried on using it. I only use it for myself, older adult, so I wasn't too bothered that it did not beep. However, now I have read someone else has one that's doesn't bleep I think there is probably something wrong with mine. It's too late to get a refund so I will have to buy another one. I am avoiding Braun anything at all costs.

Q: Usually despatched within 1-2 months, surely this is wrong?

Initially my delivery was early May, but in fact took 5 days only.
