Like many modern computers, mine was supplied without a disk drive so I had to buy a separate one, but the USB lead connecting it to the computer wasn’t long enough. I found when playing DVDs or burning CDs I had the drive precariously balanced on the arm of the chair, which was inviting trouble. I soon realised that if I wanted to sit in comfort and enjoy my DVDs or burn disks without knocking the drive I was going to have to buy an extension lead. After looking around and seeing that these Rhinocables USB 2.0 extension leads had good reviews I opted for the 1m (3.28ft) length, which is ideal for what I need it for, as it now allows me to place the drive on a nearby table or on the floor at the side of the chair where it’s stable, out-of-the-way and handy to reach. Connecting involved nothing more than joining one end of the lead to the drive’s own lead and the other to the computer’s USB socket (either 3.1 or 2.0 — both work). Obviously, there’s nothing to install, the fit is tight at both ends, it’s definitely fast enough for my purposes (even data transfers) and it works a treat. Shielded cables like these are generally better quality leads that reduce electromagnetic interference for more reliable data transfer, and this one has proven to be consistently reliable. Apart from the disk drive, I’ve occasionally used it for other computer peripherals, and again it’s worked well with a good fit. It’s cheap enough to buy, lasts long enough (as I bought mine at the end of Dec 2019) and doesn’t tangle, so as far as I’m concerned it’s been an excellent purchase. I also like the fact that purchases go towards the rhino charity. I’ll certainly be looking for Rhinocables the next time I need a lead.

Ideal cable, my usb dongle cable split from connector, exposing the wires. Cable connects a mobile dongle to an ICD home / hospital monitor, so cable is vital, Connect to monitor and clip in USB dongle, worked straight away. Up and running with no problems. recommended.

Have used Rhinocables products for several years and never had any problems. May be more expensive than other makes but are reliable in use. Solely being used to extend usb power and not used for data.

Perfect for my application. I have an old but cherished MusicPad - a unix-based display unit for digitised sheet music which sits on my piano. I filled its memory long ago so now use a USB stick which goes in a port in the back. The worry was that constantly un/plugging the stick to add or edit the music could wear out the USB port, it also means tipping the unit over to un/plug, so I bought the 25cm extender which brings the port out beside the display for easy access, and it means I don't have to wear the original port any more. If the cable plugs wear out, that's just a few quid to replace it. Nicely made cable, looks robust. It would have been slightly prettier to have a shrouded female end rather than exposed metal, but then that would have been bulkier, so on balance I'm completely satisfied with this :o)

Great product. Much better quality than I expected for the price. Very secure contacts and great cable quality which should last years.

Does the job, the connection quality could be better as could the fit but all in all it works and it was an emergency purchase.
