No, this RGB monitor light can not hook up to phone.

Q: Does the RGB version come with. remote control? If not, can the remote control from the non RGB version be used?

The RGB light bar doesn't come with a remote. I don't believe that you can, as it doesn't have an IR (infa-red) sensor built in. The way the RGB works is with sound from your PC/ so while gaming or speaking into microphone, it goes through random colors. The main light is only white and can be dimmed. I hope this answers a lot of questions.
