Upper split in two weeks
Wrote the below review about a month ago. This is an update to that. I sent my Sticky Beasts back to Amazon, and Amazon credited me for the full amount! The review below still holds as to the shoes, and I upped this transaction from one star to two, but I just want to commend Amazon for their excellent handling of the situation. It makes me even more confident in dealing with Amazon.********************************Fit is great. They look great. But the uppers just spontaneously split. Not at a stress point. Not at a seam. Right in the middle of the leather. Not damaged by any hard use. I have been wearing them on the street for only a few weeks, and they split.I have had probably a dozen pairs of Garmont approach shoes (the old Sticky Cats and the Sticky Lizards) and have always loved them, but this is kind of bad. Probably just a bad pair, but it's a ripoff, and they are past the return date. I'll give an exchange a shot, but I am not holding my breath. A new pair of $140 shoes dead in less than a month!

Tore very easily on the inner side at a specific location
Those shoes are great fit and very comfortable.First I bought a pair of black ones, which I loved so much that I've ordered Bamboo and Lead pairs few months after that. Now to the problem - while the black ones are still holding nicely, both the other tore within 2 months of using them at *exactly the same* spot. That's on the inner side of the foot, at the ball joint of the thumb. The 'cut' is about an inch long.

I've always worn Merrell
I was a little reluctant to go with a different shoe brand but I liked the way these looked. I have a wide flat foot and these fit great. I am very hard on shoes and these seem to be holding up great.

Good gear.
Well made. Good traction. Fit runs a bit narrow which suits me fine. Laces right to the toe allow fine adjustment of fit. Only comaint is that laces run a bit long.

Bad ordering experience.
Ordered the shoes a while ago based on the sizing chart published.I got a large sized shoe, even though I took the smaller option that was supposedto fit me. Sent back the shoes and replaced for a smaller size which was, again,to big... unreasonable with respect the the"number" indicated. Now, I can't replace, just return. My complaint is not with regard to the product but rather to Amazon policy.Just a bad experience.

Tight, but long!
I like the soles as they are the same as the Sticky Lizard's, but these run narrower and there is definitely not as much padding. The leather is a bit stiff and still hasn't become soft even after 3 weeks of [ab]use! Also, it doesn't have a carrying loop on the heal which is pretty odd for an approach shoe. You have to clip to the laces and even though I am using the loops to clip to as a backup, the toe end of the laces is already wearing out! The Stick Lizards were a very nice shoe, especially for soloing and carrying a heavy pack to Everest Base Camp with 14 days of trekking in the Himalayas. These are not comfortable at all. I'll update this as the shoes break in more.

Least durable approach shoe I've ever seen.
The fit is good, the rubber sticky and they are comfortable. The problem is that the upper got a hole worn in them the first time out. The hole was about 1 inch long, right above the rand on the ball of my foot and went all the way through to my sock. The material used for the upper is just not durable enough for the intended use of these shoes. To top if off, I've tried to correspond with Garmont's customer service 10 times through email and phone calls. The local Garmont dealer tried as well. Garmont has never responded. Buyer beware.

Poor build quality.
Garmont Italy has stopped supporting their products here in the United States and has passed the responsibility to Scott Sports. I have had 2 pairs of these and both have torn with just minimal daily use. They are not made well unfortunately. Luckily Scott Sports has taken care of the issue and really backed a product that they didn't even make. Thank you for the help and for great customer Service!
