Lots of good info, but still easy to read
My wife bought these for our hospital's anesthesiology department to give to incoming rotators (rotating residents from other services, rotating M3s, etc). A few weeks later, I actually used this book when I rotated through as a resident. I found it to be very concise and conversationally written. Lots of good info, but still easy to read. You aren't going to be ready to run your own cases or intubate that 350lb guy with OSA on your first try, but you also won't be completely clueless as to what everything is and what's going on in the OR.I talked with the other 8 residents in my department who used this book when rotating through and they also had nothing but good things to say.

Good intro without getting too deep
I found this book to be a useful introductory book to the field of anesthesia. This was recommended to me by a fourth-year medical student who had just completed an elective rotation in anesthesia. It was recommended to him by a professor. As I will be entering a nurse anesthesia program next year I was looking for something that would be introductory & give me a basic understanding of vocabulary and introductory concepts. This book was exactly what I needed and it was inexpensive as well. Also reccomendes was: Anesthesia, from science to practice. I purchased this book as well but have not read it yet.

Great for 4th Year Rotation
I found this to be a concise and very readable summary of anesthesia. Many of the things that I read in this book were directly applicable to what I was seeing in the OR. I wish the the pharmacology section had a little more about dosing and mechanisms of action. Overall, I found it to be adequate to read in between cases during my 4th year med school anesthesia rotation.

It's a good general overview of the anesthesia process
It's a good general overview of the anesthesia process. As an ICU RN going into Nurse Anesthesia, it was entertaining to read a book written by an MD. He often eludes to things 'just happening' with no concept of how much work it took for that thing to happen. Silly doctors.

It's okay, but...
This book is not written in the simplest terms. It is made more for someone who already understands all the medical jargon included in it. As a nursing student looking for a career in the far future in anesthesiology, this book was way over my head.

Simple and approachable.
A bit simple in some areas, but a great introduction and very readable. I read the whole thing in about 2 hours.

Wonderful Introduction and Overview
I am an RN considering CRNA school and this book gave me a wonderful overview of the education, practices, procedures, and responsibilities of being an Anesthesia provider. I am very picky and research things carefully before I buy them. I am 100% satisfied with this purchase.

Simple
Bit too basic. Perhaps it's aimed a someone completely inexperienced in theatre, but even then I feel it's a bit too simplistic. Disappointed.
