The tamper works and looks great. The one downside I would say is it seems to hold on to grounds fairly easy. Needs regular cleaning and getting grounds out of the area above the actual tamper can be difficult. You have to apply a lot of force to open it up while attempting to remove grounds was challenging. This may be normal for tampers like this though.

Avoid at all costs; this tool is flawed by DESIGN. It is misleading in its functionality. See, the spring is attached between the handle and the baffle (= centering ring that rests on the rim of the filter basket). I measured a spring force of roughly 12lbs. But this force is required to overcome the resistance between handle and center-ring / baffle _before_ the tamping base touches the coffee in the basket!!! By compressing the spring, you litterally do nothing to the coffee. Mechanically, you now have to *add* additional force to compress the coffee! This is actually and literally defeating the purpose of this tool! In short: the center ring rests on the rim of the basket and the handle is connected to the center ring via a spring. The force required to compress the center ring and handle equals the resistance of the spring. And this is *before* you are moving the tamping base plate even a single millimeter towards the coffee. Mine goes back to Amazon instantly.

Honestly, there's no real reason to worry about how hard you're tamping. There's no real difference between a 15 lb, 30 lb, or 50 lb tamp. Standard brewing pressures from your espresso machine will end up compacting the puck much more than that. As long as your espresso puck is tamped flat and reasonably compact, everything will work out fine. That said, the one great feature of this tamper is that there is a bit of a lip around the edge to help ensure that your tamp is level to the rim of the basket - and that's all I'm looking for. In fact, I ended up removing the spring, as it can be a bit difficult to clean the tamper when coffee gets trapped in the middle. It's worked fine for my stock 54mm Breville unpressurized basket, as well as my 14-16g IMS basket. The fit is 99% spot on - maybe a tiny bit of grounds might get untamped at the basket edges, but it's definitely a better fit compared to the stock tamper.

Rien à dire de mal sur ce tamper, solide, fabrication soigné, efficace à l'usage et bien mieux qu'un tamper simple. Nivelle parfaitement grâce à sa conception le café dans le panier de mon porte filtre 58mm. Les matériaux utilisé son de bonne facture et bien réglé il fait des miracles. Je le recommande, j'ajoute que ce n'est pas un marteau donc de la douceur devrais lui donner une longue vie.
