I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew

Great Lesson For Kids
Many Dr. Seuss books are just rhymes. The annoying ones are when he just rhymes fake words with more fake words. This one on the other hand is a good story with a life lesson about how you'll always have problems and you have to confront your problems. They don't make books like this anymore. I highly recommend.

A favorite childhood book
This came well packaged and in perfect condition. I was very happy to find this as a hard-bound book and just as I remembered it as a child, and it was fun to read it again. I love the story and all the crazy predicaments the guy finds himself in during his quest to find "Solla Sollew, where they never have troubles, at least very few." I am looking forward to reading it with my grandchildren.

The Best of the Lesser Known Seuss Masterpieces
We all have a Solla Sollew. That one something we dream of that will finally fix all of our problems- that magical missing peice.Dr. Seuss's young yellow-guy is on a mission to get to Solla Sollew, (on the banks of the beautiful river woo-hoo) so he never has another problem again. But Oh Boy, does he ever run into trouble on his search for his ideal home. This story is a really awesome way to explain to kids that there is no magic fix to life. There is no way to live a life problem-free. It's up to you to learn how handle problems as they come up.I read once that someone's kid didn't like the 'scary parts' and kind of scoffed, but that was mean. And our yellow-guy gets hurt, and gets stuck in a storm resulting in a flood, accidently fights in a war against something akin to giant deranged cats- then there's the underground bird tubes where he hurts his hips. But it's all done in Seuss' trademark humor, everything's so fantastical it HAS to be a metaphor- ya know? But if your little one is really literal, I guess maybe stick with the Velveteen Rabbit or whatever. (Actually also just an amazing book, that was not a knock, go buy that one, too- please)Seriously, My now 8 and I just finished collecting Seuss, she got this one at 4- and it's her favorite of them all. We bought this copy for my most magnificent niece and I hope she loves it just as much.

Educational
I’ve seen this before, and the end is different. Maybe you can make up your own ending?

My favorite Seuss book
This was and is my favorite children’s book! I read it in the library as a child and asked for it for my birthday. I couldn’t remember the name of the title. I described it by saying there was a maze when you opened the book. My mom came through, she was the best! I still love this book 50 years later.

One of the best Seuss ever wrote
I learned about the existence of this book from the Seussblog. I had never heard of it growing up. On reading all the books' entries, I decided to get that one for my children, and I am very happy I did. So many lines from this book are now part of the catchphrases of my household:"This happens in war every now and again.Sometimes you are winners. Sometimes you are losers. We NEVER can win against so many Poozers. And so I suggest it is time to retreat!"The bus stop was there. And that part was just fine. But tacked on a stick was a very small signSaying, “Notice to Passengers Using our Line:We are sorry to say that our driver, Butch Meyers,Ran over four nails and has punctured all tires. So, until further notice, the 4:42Cannot possibly take you to Solla Sollew…but I wish you a most pleasant journey by feet.Signed, Bus Line President, Horace P. Sweet.”

A classic! Good for slightly older children
This was my favourite as a child (I still know nearly the whole thing off by heart!). I bought this for my daughter (4) but I think she's still too young for it, as it's quite long. Probably better for children aged 6+.
