I'm not sure how the copper inserts are mounted. The one a tried to remove doesn't unscrew. I wanted to remove them so I could mill a chamfer around the edge so they don't round over. They are obviously new, but no what I would call "well done". Since it is a copper hammer, it won't look shiny and new for long, but I was hoping to receive something that was in that state when I received it. The packaging was pretty poor. It's a hammer so it needs no padding, but at least the cardboard could have been closed up around the hammer! I'm wondering how many times it fell out of the open packaging on it's way to me? There was no evidence that the open end had ever been taped shut!

I use these hammers daily, they are a good weight, easy to use. I use a copper or brass hammer for metal stamping with steel punches. The copper (or brass) will wear down with use, it's designed to do this so I can get few a fair few hammers in a year. I also bought a similar version from this supplier with one end being a rawhide (this is great for hammering metal without it leaving a mark on the surface) The bonus with this hammer is having two copper ends so when one side wear down, you can simply use the other end. I would recommend this hammer and will be buying again when both sides have worn down too much.
