Really handy
These help to keep the plant moist and the weeds down. They also keep the snails away.The only slight problem is the blow away on the windy days . I've put some metal garden pegs to keep mine down. I'm also using mine in pots.

Quite useful really, go large
Bought for suppressing weeds below vines, seems to work well, I made sure to soak before using/laying over weeded soil and watered the soil first and a few times since to establish the plant. Laid a few stones on top to avoid predators nicking it for bedding. Good job recycling too.

Sparrows pecked at them for nest material.
Sparrows liked to lift the mats in the Spring in order to fray material from the edges, presumably for their nests. I guess you need bird netting as well. Otherwise, you are endlessly picking up frayed mats that they toss around the garden.

Good for strawberries
Good to keep strawberries off the ground. Easy to put in place.

Keeps weeds at bay.
Got over 2 kg of strawberries off my plants this year, the matting definitely helped. Took up once plants done fruiting to save for next year.
