Hunter Douglas PowerView Hub System Package

I purchased this to replace my 1st generation hub because it didn’t work with Google home. I plugged this one in and connected it to the router, keeping my previous hub connected. Then, using the Powerview app I was able to setup the new hub, automatically copying the settings from the old hub. Then I connected it to Google Home and Alexa. It worked like a charm.

Not that easy to connect; difficult. Purchased to connect with Echo and was unsuccessful.

All the windows in my house are equipped with Hunter-Douglas powerview shades.To operate them, I use the Powerview remote control pebble.It is just a shame that to integrate the shades with Alexa, I need yet to add a hub that should not be required!My house is equipped with TP-Link switches, that directly pair with WiFi and thus directly commanded with Alexa.Hunter-Douglas should simply stop trying to nickle and dime us with selling extra equipment which today is obsolete.

Be aware... this hub only works with Hunter Douglas motorized shades manufactured July 2015 or later. Nothing in the product description, or on the Hunter Douglas web site, mentions this. I had to call Hunter Douglas customer service after trying and failing to set up the hub, and only then did they give me the information.Apparently there was once a Hunter Douglas "Platinum Gateway" that worked like the PowerView Hub for older motorized shades with "PowerRise", "PowerTilt", or "PowerGlide" in their descriptions, but that Gateway is discontinued. The PowerView Hub is not backward compatible with any of them, and there is no way to upgrade or retrofit older shades to the new system.

We purchased 7 PowerView shades and the app, hub, and overall user experience are all terrible. The shades constantly disconnect and do not work consistently. We had to replace all the motors after a year. It seems like these were released much too early for prime time. I would not recommend Hunter Douglas after this experience.

Hub control connectivity to blinds is inconsistent. Range seems to be a factor even with the repeaters evenly dispersed from the hub, one blind works all the time while the other not so much. Didn't like that when Hunter Douglas finally came out with the Alexa integration that it cost 300+ for a new hub, which I think, after paying as much as I did, better automation should be minimal.
