Moondrop KATO Earphone DLC Composite Diaphragm Advanced Ultra Linear Technology Dynamic in-Ear Earplug (Blue)

I bought these back in March 23 after reading many glowing reviews.The quality of the packaging and product is great, and comes with nice accessories (tips, filters, and a quality cable - bit heavy but nice)Re the sound, for my preference, I think they're great! Detailed, clean and accurate.Bass is smooth, rich and present but never overblown.MIDs are slightly forward, but always enjoyable - maybe not so much if the recording is of a low quality, but i don't think the Kato is at fault there.Treble is detailed, present but pretty sweet imho, never gets too spicy or overwhelming.Tuning is very nice. Mostly neutral, with maybe a slightly elevations in midbass to keep things pleasant and more interesting as opposed to analytical and clinical sounding.I use the silver filters as fitted, the brass ones seemed to add a bit more treble but wasn't quite to my preference.Re supplied tips, I seem to struggle with getting a good fit and seal, but I've discovered that's to do with my ear shape, but I think it's a bit exacerbated by the weight of the Kato's (which is probably my only gripe so far)Definitely worth experimenting with alternative tips to ensure you get the best from these, I'm currently enjoying the TRN T-tips which are super grippy and balanced sounding.Overall, I really like these, they're a lovely sounding iem and have a high quality feel to them - recommended! 😎👍Side note : I don't wear these out and about, for me they simply don't feel secure enough for that, but for others, they might be fine... Just a consideration 🤔Update: April '24Really enjoying these with the Brass Filters and TRN T-Tips!The tips provide a superior fit and seal (compared to the Spring tips) and with the Brass filters, the Kato's have a very full bodied, detailed yet smooth sound.Very good combo, just give them good amplification and enjoy the music! 😎

Absolutely stunning in any way tou review it !!

Firstly. I allowed these to burn in for 10hrs (I tend to find speakers settle with in 10 hours with minimum changes upto 100 hours)When they first arrived these were very smooth with rolled off treble. Luckily the treble did enhance during burn in. The only problem is the right earphone. They were run together but the left earphone is becoming louder with good, clear treble. The right earphone on the other hand sounds dull and quiet when compared.I had several people try, we also tried both filters, together and mixed as well as all tips, spintips and final tips. The results are consistent with all, with just slightly different characteristics. However the balance issue is always there. We even tried a second (moondrop balanced cable)I have read a few comments by other buyers who have experienced the same issue.I will be returning them.

I should have paid attention to the other reviews talking about channel imbalance.Initially, I thought the sound was great. Non-fatiguing with pleasant treble and warm vocals. However, within 24 hours the right earphone was significantly quieter. Much like another reviewer, the left earphone was much louder better treble. The right earphone was barely audible.I am surprised that earphones costing this much have this issue. Very disappointed. I have sent them back.

I've been very, very cautious with those IEMs because I value my money. I've been always using their case when not using them and now, less than a year later, suddenly my left IEM started sounding very low compared to the right one. This is unacceptable for the money they cost.
