8ft Grey Pro Series Elite Balance Beam

This balance beam is, to my inexperienced eye, just as good as any I've seen in a gymnasium. My daughters have been taking gymnastics for a while now, and this high-quality beam has been great and allowed them to progress quickly. My son even enjoys it - the kids make up games and use it all the time! The beam itself is very solid, consisting of a durable tan suede covering over a padded beam (e.g., the beam is not too hard). It comes disassembled, but all you need to do to assemble it is bolt the two legs on. The assembly is durable - I have no fear about the legs breaking off, and the screws are large. Once assembled, the beam is fully stable - no fears about it tipping, that's for sure. As far as the price is concerned, for $180 bucks or so, this seems like a great deal. One recommendation - shipping could be kind of expensive, but it's free if you're a Prime member, so it's worth considering signing up for Prime simply because the free shipping would effectively reduce the cost of your prime membership so much.

Love this! I bought it for my 7 year old who had started gymnastics. It was the most realistic and reasonably priced one that I found. I keep it in my living room for her to use anytime. I cant think of anything wrong with it, it is sturdy, well made, good fabric, nice color, close to the ground so we don't even use a mat. If we get tired of it in the living room then we just stand it up in the corner of a bedroom or closet.

I'll start by saying that if it wasn't for strange issues, (don't know whether to label them quality control or customer service) this would easily be a five star review. The beam itself seams very sturdy, and the suede covering is soft and also seems like it will absorb some wear from my two daughters, but of course only time will tell. The strangeness is this: After receiving the beam from FedEx, we noticed the box was in horrible shape, so it made me fear for the beam. Sure enough, the suede was torn. I called the Beam Store immediately and the person I spoke with kindly shipped a replacement IMMEDIATELY with no fuss, which I thought was great customer service. I placed the damaged beam in the box and placed it on the porch for a FedEx retrieval, which was also setup by the Beam Store person. The problem came when I received the 2nd beam; it came without the feet. I called the Beam Store and they said I should have kept the feet from the damaged shipment.....but NOBODY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO. I requested that the feet be shipped immediately; the store said they were overnighted.....should have arrived today, we'll see if they come tomorrow. Also, and more curiously, it was wrapped SIGNIFICANTLY more securely than the first beam, which made me wonder why the first wasn't wrapped this way. Inside the box, the first beam was uncovered/unwrapped and sat unsecured in a cardboard half-sleeve. The second beam was covered in bubble wrap, lying in, and taped to, a cardboard half-sleeve, and all of that was wrapped in a particle-board type shell. Maybe the 2nd beam was wrapped this way as a reaction to my complaint, but I didn't get that impression. It sorta made me think that the first beam was someone's returned item that was reboxed and sent to me, and the 2nd beam was what normal "new" beam shipments are supposed to look like. In trying to describe it, think of a corn-dog in a paper sleeve in a pop bottle in a Reynolds Wrap box (2nd beam), versus a naked hot dog in a paper sleeve in a Reynolds Wrap box (1st beam). Sorry, that's the best analogy I could come up with..... :-) Probably obvious, but I'll mention it anyway; it came in one 8-foot box and it's weight plus the length make it an awkward one-person carry. Also, the Beam Store isn't open on the weekends, but my Saturday call was returned promptly on Monday. My girls loved the beam when they saw it, they really enjoy playing on it, I have no regrets about buying it, just wish it would have been smoother. I haven't attached the feet yet, so I can't speak to others' mounting issues, but I'll update this if need be.

We purchased this for our granddaughter; age eight. She loves it! It is the prefect product; pretty and strong. Shipping was quick and accurate. One problem: Although the assembly is incredibly easy, our beam did not have the holes for the screws in the proper place. Both sets of holes for the screws were at one end of the beam (on the bottom)...Quality Control issue. My husband remedied this by getting his drill and measuring tape and in two minutes had drilled two holes in the end without holes and affixed the stabilizer cross pieces.

I bought this beam for my daughter, because she was upset about not having anything to practice on at home and "the beam hates me." She's thrilled with this beam. It's two inches off the ground, which means I can place our 2-inch mat underneath for safety. She says it's just like the one at the gym except it's a little more "fuzzy" (i.e., suede). It's a good length, padded, very sturdy. Even I could stand on it without worries. My daughter practices her handstands, dismounts and other skills on her new beam every day. I can see improvements already.

Good quality balance beam. Beam is long enough for my 8 year old to practice her skills. Skills include cartwheels and back walkovers. I am sure some future skills will not be possible, but those should probably be just done at her gym. It is short enough to fit well in the house which would be a concern with a full length beam or an elevated beam. It is strong with a good cover. We have had it for several weeks and have found it to be very useful for in home practice.

My 6 year old daughter received this for Christmas this year and absolutely loves it. It took about 5 minutes to put together and came well wrapped and in perfect condition. It's durable yet soft and will be something she can grow into. She's already doing cartwheels on it being lower to the ground. The color is a vibrant pink and much better than in the picture. It was worth every penny!

This was a Christmas present for my 10 year old daughter. She takes gymnastics and she's been begging for a beam for months. She loves this. The legs were easy to put on with a wrench, and it's very sturdy. The suede is nice and soft, though only time will tell if it stays that way. It's fairly heavy, so you'd want to put it somewhere that it can stay put.

My girls absolutely love it, They had something else picked out but this product was much better quality and a better price. Couldn't be happier.
