Impressive Story Revised Nicely for a Young Audience
Pay It Forward, the movie in 2000, greatly impressed me. 20 years later, I read the original book and found it much better and more impressive in so many ways, as it touched on more social and world issues. I wondered if the Young Readers Edition would be appropriate for my 9-year-old granddaughter, so I read it, too. Then I purchased it for her birthday. I can't wait to hear what she thinks about the story!Catherine Ryan Hyde is one of my favorite authors. Pay It Forward, the original story, was an early work for her and boosted her writing career. Each of her novels is better than the last, and I'm glad I still have a long list of them to read.

Pay It Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde
This is a book I want everyone to read. I read the young readers version. The ending is different from the adult version (which I still have not read.) That’s important to know.if you get a copy for kids or to read to kids get the young reader version .It is so inspiring. I had to buy a copy for my home library. I recommend it highly. She is an excellent author.

This is one of my favorite stories and I am happy that it came out ...
This is one of my favorite stories and I am happy that it came out in a Young Readers Edition. I teach 5th Grade and the original movie is just on the edge of being able to watch it with my students. This book will definitely be on my "Read Aloud" list this year. It is so heartwarming, with a message that will stay with you for a long time. Trevor is such a likable, no nonsense kid, with a big heart. His plan seems so simple, yet, as adults, our learned skepticism fills us with doubt and our faith in others is minimal. This story becomes our inspiration to our Genius Hour projects, inspiring kids to make a difference in their world today. No idea is too small or too simple, it just takes a strong heart and mind to make it happen. I would recommend this book in any classroom. Our students are our future and this book is a powerful influence for students to make it happen.

Good book
The book was good ,it taught kindness. Which I feel like is an important thing. Although the book was good, I felt I got the point of the book before it was finished. But overall, I really liked it.

This is a great book to teach students about empathy and compassion
This is a great book to teach students about empathy and compassion. They have all heard of "paying it forward" and now they have learned the story behind the concept. My third grade students will grow into adults, and it will be a better world if they understand how to care for one another. While this is the children's version of the story is really doesn't lose any of the power and impact behind Pay it Forward. The character development and the plot are well thought out. A great read aloud for all classrooms.

Grandson gave it a thumbs up!
I purchased this book for my grandson as a summer reading for every end of a school year I purchase a book for summer reading and this is the book I purchased for him. He is 14 years old and this book was recommended for that age group. I asked him how he liked it and he said he read it twice and gave it a thumbs up. He also passed it to his sister who is 16 and she enjoyed it also. So I guess if you are a young teen or have someone in that age group its a good book!

Let this be required reading for all children (& adults)!
Excellent children's edition! Our 9-yr old did a semester book project on this, loved working with the message of the book, presenting it to her class in a vibrant way, and then challenging them to apply in a small way the theme of "Pay it forward." Many books for kids insult their intelligence, wasting their potential on negative, superficial, non-stimulating non-ideas. It is so refreshing to find books such as this that inspire children to reach, to strive, to dream, to act positively and productively. Brilliant story and generous author to create this based on her own experience mentioned at the book's beginning.
