Very Good Deal
For the price this thing is awesome. I did have a problem with the item recently, but turns out that the customer service is so good with this company that I can't even knock a star off for that. The power button on the monitor actually broke and it wouldn't power on any more. I contacted customer service, explained the situation to them, and they sent me a new one no questions asked. With the new one, I'm going to be a little more ginger with the power button. I dismantled the old one after I knew I was getting a replacement and I found that the plastic inside the mechanical part of the button blew out the back. The spring purchase went with it and it wouldn't return any more. I was actually able to get the thing to fire up with a jumper wire, so there was nothing wrong with it except for the 200 lb gorilla at the business end of that button ham fisting it. The engineers at Babysense would do well to add a stop to the housing on this so that the button can't be pressed so far into the component on the board. As for the functionality before it broke, I can't complain. The image is clear, the volume is excellent, night vision is good. Range is also good and the battery life is quite long compared to two other monitors we've used. This unit was a replacement for a Lorex that had a laundry list of problems, and other than the lack of a couple of features like being able to pan the camera and remote WiFi viewing (which we never used BTW, and probably just served to create a security hole in our WiFi network), this unit compares well in functionality, and yes, in spite of the failure, reliability. That Lorex eventually got recalled because the batteries in the monitor would swell up and create a fire risk (Lithium is no joke when it burns), so for half its life I had just removed the battery and used it only plugged in to the wall until I found out about the recall which the company had failed to notify me of even though they had several interactions with us on warranty repairs. Since the Babysense came with a pair of cameras instead of just one and works just as good with the features we actually use, I think a quarter of the price is a hell of a deal on this thing. Couple all of this with the great customer service (Lorex was a nightmare to deal with too), I think you can't go wrong. Just don't squeeze that power button so hard like you want to when there's a baby in your arms exploding your eardrums ;).

Works well, amazing customer service
This is a great unit. I ordered it initially because the pictures & reviews show a micro-usb charging port for the parent unit. My wife has a habit of leaving the monitor on, so the battery is often dead when it's needed. This would allow is to charge it anywhere around the house, where we have a myriad of cell phone chargers. But the unit I received had a round plug. I reached out to the manufacturer, and received a response immediately. They explained that this was a very recent change, based on customer feedback, and believed it would be more sturdy. They're probably right, but I really wanted the micro-usb charging port, and explained why. They still had some of those in stock, and were kind enough to ship me one of those parent units at no charge. So A++++ customer service. The system itself works great. We use the parent unit 2-3 rooms away, and have zero signal issues. The nightvision is fantastic, and the sound quality is great. We've had it a week or so now, and have absolutely no complaints. The only real downside is that the battery life sucks with the screen on, but that's true of all these units. But this has a great feature where if you tap the power button once it will turn the screen off and leave everything else on. Definitely a great feature, then the battery will last a long time. One small suggestion: A slightly heavier base for the camera would be helpful. I set something on it, but without that even tapping the power cable will re-point the camera.

Good camera, excellent customer service
Update almost 2 years later: increased to 4 stars.I bought a couple of those corner shelf things and that GREATLY improved the range of vision for my cameras. Also, I love the eco mode. You just don’t find many video monitors with it, and I can’t understand why. That’s a huge bonus for this camera. Customer service is also excellent. I had an issue with the parent unit and they replaced it for free and very quickly. Also, not sure why the temperature had issues from my previous review, but my cameras always seem to match temperature readings now. *shrug* Honestly the only downside I have with this camera now, that I didn’t know I wanted before, is the ability to pan the camera. But it’s still a great price and has great features. From 2018:I want to love this monitor, I really do. If I could give half stars I would have given a 3 1/2.Pros:1. Good cameras. LOVE the night vision.2. Nice sound.3. Easy to use - especially pairing the cameras to the parent unit.Cons:1. We have twins, so I wanted 2 cameras -1 per crib. There’s zero way one camera can cover the entire crib, unless maybe you mount it to your ceiling (unlikely). But for the majority of people who have one crib, 2 cameras will definitely cover the whole thing. And if you’re using this to just look at a room in general, I’m sure it’s fine.2. No belt clip. There’s a stand that pops out, but it’s pretty flimsy. I wish it had a belt clip so I could wear it around while I do chores.3. Blinking light. It lets you know it’s on, but if you’re like me and sensitive to light in the middle of the night, the blinking green light is a tad annoying.4. Thermometer. It currently says one camera is 73 degrees and the other is 79, even though they’re 10 feet apart, so I don’t believe either.Despite my list of cons, I’m keeping it. It does its job for a decent price, and gives me peace of mind when I want to see if the babies are awake or not.
