I wanted to love everything about these so I ordered 3 windows
I wanted to love everything about these so I ordered 3 windows, but my initial impression was annoyance. The shipping boxes are majorly branded -and sat on my front porch all day for everyone to see I purchased My Smart Blinds. So much for looking like someone's home, because all my neighbors know my blinds are automated. Then I remembered seeing "easy to install, no tools required", but opened a box of screws and brackets that clearly needed installed and required a drill and screwdriver. Then after installing the brackets and hanging the blind, there was no rod to attach to the hook. Not a big deal, and thought they would send a replacement without issue. Syncing the app to the automated blind was really frustrating. I followed the installation instructions in the one page user guide to hang the blinds, the last instruction being to start the pairing process through MySmartBlinds app. Easy enough, except the directions in the app are wrong. The app displays and states to pull the cord on the blind to start the pairing process. My phone couldn't even find the blinds. After some troubleshooting and investigation - it turns out the instructions failed to mention needing to turn the blinds on before hanging them. So, hop back on the counter, pull the blinds down, find the on/off switch and notice the cords are not attached to anything looking to be involved with pairing. Turns out the missing rod is whats needs to be tugged once to start the pairing. With the switch on, blind re-installed, and the rod from the blinds I removed installed, my phone found the blinds, paired, and they worked great. Opening the second box, I find 2 rods -one for the blinds in the box, and the missing one from the first box. Inspecting the contents of the 3rd box, I find the charging cord in a nice box whereas the other 2 boxes just had the cords laying in the larger box. Nothing major really - but annoying and question invoking about the manufacturing/packing process. All 3 blinds immediately needed their software updated, again, nothing major, but added to the annoying experience. The 2nd and 3rd blinds did install easier because of my experiences with the first - and they do seem to work great! If that holds true for a few weeks, I will most likely order more.
