Practical and easy-to-read
At first, I was a bit turned off by how simple the language was--not to mention the goofy cartoons. However, I was looking for help and it was recommended to me by someone I trust, so I just swallowed some of the goofiness and... it has been extremely practical and helpful! I haven't even finished the book yet, and I find myself catching irrational thinking and improving my day-to-day life already. I think this is the most helpful self-help book I have ever read.Don't hesitate, buy this book!

Life changing
This book was assigned to me by my therapist. I've since read the entire thing and I've put everything into practice. The strategies in this book have changed my life for the better. Nothing has done more for me than what I learned from this book. If you stick to it and actually put the advice into practice you will notice a huge difference in your emotions and thought patterns.

Glad to see "SOS Help For Emotions" come to Kindle!
I've struggled with anxiety and on/off depression for several years and have mainly treated it with counseling and medication. A few years ago I stumbled upon the term "emotional intelligence" which led me to discovering Dr. Lynn Clark's book, "SOS Help for Emotions". To be honestly, I first saw the cover of the book and thought it looked kind of silly. But after reading several positive reviews, I thought I would give it a shot.It takes you through a guided step-by-step process to help you identify the negative thoughts that frequently run through the minds of those who struggle with anxiety. In the book, these thoughts are called "self-talk". The book is also written in a way that helps reiterate the things that you've learned in each chapter to help you build upon your newly found "emotional intelligence".I'm a very visual learner. The cartoons, illustrations and simple diagrams in this book helped me immensely! There are also a bunch of printable resources that you can download for free on Dr. Clark's "SOS Programs" website.I'm excited that "SOS Help for Emotions" was just released for the Amazon Kindle. Now I can use Amazon's Kindle App on my smart phone to access the book whenever I need it for reference. On a side note, from personal experience, please know that a single book can't be the end-all/be-all for any mental illness. Reaching out to others and seeking counseling should always be sought after. I also credit my personal relationship with Christ and my faith in God that helped carry me through my deep struggles.

Boundaries
If you’re angry you may not be open to listen to this book. It takes a while. But these methods work. I can’t say I’m good at any of it. But at least I’m aware and try to change the thought process.

Great examples of RET
I have used this book for years with Middle school and even High School students. For lower readers or anyone who doesn't want a TOO heady self help manual. Many young people are not as willing to read self help books but this one makes the concepts of RET accessible by use of cartoons and great examples. Makes RET much more accessible.

Advertising
This could get a higher rating if it were not for the advertising of the authors other products through out the book.Very distracting while trying to focus on the material.

Excellent book
I work with in education with youth who have behavioral disturbances. I use examples from this books to help with "crooked thinking" that may lead to behavior outburst. Based on evidenced base psychology, but presented in an easy to understand format. I also use it to help parent understand how to help their children. Great book!
