If I want to use the massage function, must I use the heat function or is it independent of each other?

The heat function is separate from the vibrator. the built in timer is just about right for each session, I do 2 a day for slipped disc. I have used this device to ease back pain with success.

How easy is it to store? Am I able to make it collapse so it's vertical & I can have it sit up against the wall in the corner?

The legs do not have a built in tether to keep them together when closed. That being said, it is easy to collapse however, as you try to move it the legs will open and the table will swing. Not easy to store and still takes a decent foot print of space. I have wedged it between a post in a corner to keep it collapsed. After a few times of struggling with the storage, I stopped collapsing it and left it set up

What is the power source for heating and mssaging?

Plugs into standard 110 outlet.
