Buy!
As an LPC, this book has made the treatment process very helpful for myself and clients. There are many helpful activities that are great for therapists to use with their clients, and for parents to use for their children.

Great examples!
I started utilizing art therapy at my internship but was running out of ideas. Having this book for quick references made my job so much easier as i didn’t have to scramble to look for ideas online. Highly recommend!

Excellent. Super helpful
I’m a Therapist and found the activities in this book really helpful and easy to implement during session. The activities don’t require a ton of items outside typical art materials. So far, the kids have engaged in the activities readily.

Great Ideas
This book has lots of great ideas, but there aren't any photos explaining the artwork or how to create it. Because of this reason, it's a bit difficult to follow sometimes.

Not Art Therapy Activities, But There are 75 Art Projects
Art Therapy Activities for Kids is a compact book with 75 art ideas. On the front cover, it says "evidence-based" and that is what caused me to decide to purchase this book on Prime Deal Day. That is an unfortunate piece of misinformation and advertising-- because the art projects (not art therapy interventions) are simply a nice set of art making activities, none of which are supported by any evidence of their use with children. Evidence-based implies research supported and there is no evidence listed in the reference list specifically for each of these art projects. The other major challenge of this book is the questions, I assume for children, to answer. Most are very adult-focused, requiring the insight of a teenager or adult, rather than child-oriented. I wondered if the author actually tested these questions with the children when she uses these art projects. Maybe the questions are for adults to answer? I just could not decide from the way the information is presented. What would have been helpful would be some illustrations of what these art projects look like. Many of the descriptions are really hard to follow and imagine what the outcomes might look like. These are not "art therapy" activities. That statement implies that a therapist or childcare worker is working with the child and has therapy skills that would be part of the activities. These are 75 art education type projects that parents who have some art background might find very useful in "art time" with their children. Psychotherapists and counselors, this book is not geared to you and your work. But if you want a nice "make it" book of art projects, then yes, this might serve that purpose.I hope the author makes some revisions when she decides to publish again. And please do not lead readers that there is research evidence for each of these 75 art projects, that is simply not demonstrated in the references found in this book. That being said, I am happy to gift my neighbor this book because she wants to learn more about art education activities.
