Piercing
This flashlight does a better job than its predecessor or piercing a channel of light through smoke. It's attached to my fire helmet so it's bad for looking colleagues in the eyes, but great for spotting surfaces in the distance through smoke. +waterproof

Great flashlight, but
I have previously reviewed the Pilican 2410 as the best flashlight possible. Uses AA batteries, and is rated for flammable atmospheres, very bright, tough. The "recoil" part of the name inplies that the LED faces backward and reflects off the reflector. This gave a perfect spot size. Pelican has changed so that the LED is at the base of the reflector cone facing out, and this give a much smaller light spot. This is a disadvantage since the flashlight is so bright, having a small spot is not good. It needs to be spread out more. So the current production is NOT "Recoil." The 2410 are still one of the best and I keep buying them for engineering work, but they were better before.

Poor switch.
Good while it lasted. Switch broke. Poor, cheap design.
